Three sheets of thick ply, keep placing them in front of each other as you move down the drive. Failing that, make a sledge, install a winch in the workshop and reel it in biggrin

why do you need to board the whole driveway surely 2 or 3 would be enough and just keep putting them infront of the pallet truck or whatever you use?
I was going to suggest scaffolding planks but Blakeatron has nailed it.

I looked at the thread title, and thought you were considering taking the gravel drive with you!

Well as you're moving out, perhaps just drop a few bags of cement onto the drive by accident. Attempt to wash it off with a low pressure hose and then give up and leave it for the following day...

yeah...gravel drive is at new house...not the old one.

like the idea of the forklift...if the removal quote comes in more than 300quid, i'll look into it!

Also moving the gravel aside might not be such a stupid idea...it feels deep underfoot, but not actually raked any back to see exactly how deep or what's underneath.

Well, had my quotes in...first was 2,300 and second was 1,400....first included a specialist to move the heavy stuff (900) and they move the workshop AND add the cost of them hiring a 7.5tonner...

I now have two 7.5 ton lorries with tail lifts reserved, one for house and one for workshop...brother in lao family students as muscle. Other brother in law is supplying ply to act as a smooth 'road' for the stuff on skates. Should save about 900quid in all!

Really pees me off that I've (well, Mrs Virgil) has packed pretty much everything into boxes, we have comparatively little furniture (what we have is mainly built in, so staying) the workshop 'is on wheels' and also pretty much boxed and ready to go and I still get loony quotes.

Mate of mine who is a removal guy thinks well be fine (sham he's on holiday or he'd be here to help!)
Quite fancy being a truck driver for the day too :-D

Wish me luck :-)

I took my lathe apart, same with the mill. You can break it down into parts liftable by two. Was quite awkward though.

Doing this actually saved my lathe as it revealed a blocked oilway to the head spindle
