OP,

Budget £200 a day for a proper tradesman. Can give a couple of contacts if you'd like to email me.

yes

It's not difficult for those who can, but it is a knack, and you got or you ain't.

And if you ain't, even stevie wonder will laugh at your efforts.

Well, I've got one now - going to charge just under 600 quid, seems to know what he's talking about and is a local man with a good reputation.

How some jokers think that the job is worth twice that amount I don't know.

How many ceilings? what size and height? are they currently artexed? The OP was a wee bit vague tbh.

60Sqm of ceiling needs doing, then making good the existing plaster on the walls. Ceilings are artex, but only a bit textured rather than the alpine reconstruction you sometimes get.

I've got a good guy that will travel down to SW London (he did all of my brothers flat in colliers wood, exc ceilings for £800). That included, entrance hall, stairs, landing, front 18ft x 13ft living room and two 12ft x 12ft bedrooms).

He's done my house piecemeal, my 12ft x 13ft living room including walls & ceiling was £250 for example. Works alone and doesn't even stop for lunch!

PM if you want his number. He only does private jobs at the weekends (works for a major house builder during the week).

Cheers,
Matt

Well call me a joker, but I think at £10 sq m plus making good the walls you've got a good deal there.

I got bored of the local plasterer being too busy to do my work so I learnt to do it myself.

I really is very very easy.
It really isn't very very easy!

I've been DIY plastering for years, and i've got to the level where I can do a decent job, this has taken a long time though.

Even now i'd rather pay someone if I had the cash.

Some people learn faster or have better techniques than others - HTH.

For the record I have saved a st load of cash by having doing my own plastering.
