I need to kit our my new house with furniture. Apart from my default choice of John Lewis, can anyone recommend some great places between Leicester, Northampton & Peterborough?

Really depends on your budget. I'd only use a furniture store to see stuff in the flesh, then search for it online to get a better deal. Ikea does have some good stuff, but it doesn't always suit all tastes. There's a great oak furniture place on the east side of Stratford. Prices aren't mega, but higher than the MDF superstores.

I've got a budget of around £5,000. I'm furnishing a three bed semi.

The only thing I've chosen is a sofa from JL.

Try Furniture Barn in Market Harborough. Haven't been for years but they've got lots of good quality stuff for not too much money.

Seconded. I got my bed from here, always worth a haggle too.

Thanks, been in there. Nice enough place just not much that appealed to me. I guess their stock constantly changes. It's only 5 mins from my house which helps!
