At christmas i gave our bin men a case of beer, now they take anything, all house hold waste goes in the bin which i take to a couple of biffa bins that are around thanet and dump them there. clean black bags in my car yes, stty old toilets no. Im renovating our house so all the house stuff now goes in the wheelie bins, last week they took a toilet and cistern plus a few bits of plaster board. Next week i start doing the garden so its soil dumping time, will leave them another case of beer and enquire about them taking two full bins of soil per week. Im banned from the two local tips as my car is sign written for my wifes botox company, hardly commercial but haho.

I love this corrupt, mafia driven third world country:
I've a 2 cubic metre wheelie bin 10 yards from my door, emptied weekly, and my rubbish collection tax is the equivalent of six quid a year

4 years ago we moved from Bromley Council to Kent County Council control.

Bromley: half a dozen different bins for various recycling, some collected weekly, some fortnightly. Looked lovely outside my small house.

Kent: Weekly collection of as many clear bags as you have (containing all recyclables, no need to sort) and as many black bags as you have (non-recyclables). All gets sorted by them, non-recyclables burned to generate electricity. If I'm away they will usually open up our bin (that stands in a corner of our front garden) and check to see if there are any bags in there.

In the OP's situation, I think I would be boxing up my waste and posting it to the council offices.

I live in a development of 32 flats with communal waste and recycling bins,in the last month have had two letters stating the recycling has not been emptied as a plastic bag is in the bin and must be removed.

So recycling bin = send out 32 letters and envelopes wasted.
Just getting the guy to take the bag out and then empty the bin = job done.

Not that I would do this but suppose someone took it upon them to attempt to remove the bag and had an accident while doing it would the council be liable?

Elf n safety, manual handling, and sod all common sense. That would make me even more likely to put a plastic bag in the bin.

One thing I've noticed all this multiple bin tomfoolery has done is add a new conversation to the roster when visiting friends.

You drink a bottle/can of beer, or finish a plate of food and want to throw the scraps away. You now have to get a quick lesson from the host on how to go about it rather than just chuck it in the bin.

South of France, refuse is collected every day during the summer and weekly during winter. Just thought I would mention that.
Its the same in Spain, and my Spanish council tax for a 4 bed house was 120€ a year.
