OK well, I hope we never have to move then.

All our bath is, is a giant shower tray.

I wonder what part estate agents have in perpetuating this idea about baths?
I think you'll find women are more to blame.

stinking baths'? slightly over then top, don't YOU think? The Japanese are well into baths, but not quite the same as ours.

Anyway to try and keep on track; if your major concern is selling the house, keep the bath. If not, lose it.

The ridiculous obsession with the entitlement to profit on our properties is the root of many evils in this country. Free yourself of its bonds and your showers will be much more relaxing I'm sure!
Fair one.

We do not want profit, ideally we want to be carried out in wooden boxes.

But circumstances change, we may fall on hard times one day and be forced to sell.

Let's hope not smile

the Japanese wash before getting into the bath

i agree 100% with the rest

anyway
we used a baby bath in the shower for our first kid (in a flat)

then we've got a nice flat and wide bathroom sink which we used for bathing the younger ones (a bath too though)

Tell you what try having a nice long soak in the bath, glass of wine on the side, book in your hand.

Now try having a nice long soak in the shower, glass of wine on the side, book in your hand!

Hence baths are preferred, end of story!

Personally I usually shower but I like a soak in the bath occasionally. I would never buy a house with no bath unless one could be put in.

I would also be extremely reluctant to buy another house with a combi boiler but thats another story.

As others have said if you arent moving or having a family just do it.

We have a bath and a shower cubicle with screen.

I don't think my Kindle would like the water smile

We don't have room for a bath and a cubicle.

But thanks for your opinion.

No room for separate shower and bathrooms?
This is what you need. You can keep it anywhere

For best economy on bath night, put the cleanest one in first and just keep warming it up with a kettle.

So the order at bath time will be - mum, dad, the kids, the whippet and then grandad

Currently on holiday in NZ, staying with son and his wife. One of his favourite gadgets is the computer controlled bath. Set the temperature and depth and it tells him (female voice) when the bath is ready.

Op you clearly have an issue with baths but you came on to ask for opinions which you got. The fact that many people advise you otherwise is advice you can either take or leave but unless you're on a mission, or a shower salesman, there's no point in arguing the alternative case. Personally I always shower in the morning but also like an occasional bath and to soak after a long run. Oh and my bath doesn't stink! confused

We change a lot of bathrooms to shower only rooms, but mainly for retired customers, (bungalows), who are now struggling to get in / out of a bath, or when the customer has more than one bathroom.

For resale, a family house will need to have a bath. But regardless, if the OP is planning to stay a long while, then don't worry about selling, install what you want now, and enjoy.

Who doesnt love a nice bath??? It's not either or.....I shower 90% of the time but there are always the odd days when a hot soak is nice.

The OP is asking an odd question.....you may as well say "lawns, whats the point...tarmac the lot" - If you dont want something your house has, dump it.....but a bath will be of use to MOST people that buy a family home.

Oh....and "stinky bath"? Try filling with clean water??

This!
I'm sure there are millions of people living in houses they don't like the decor of, or the garden or whatever but dare not change it for fear of the resale. Make it how you want and enjoy it.

Some friends of ours have this - its not even a large shower.

2 bed end terrace.. They bought it like that, I thought it was a bit odd but said nothing. They're not trying to sell with not much joy, some feedback has mentioned the no bath situation.

I always have a shower - but for that time every other month when i fancy a bath I'm glad its there!

My folks have 2 wetrooms and no bath in their house, they have lived there for 30+ years (it was the 1st house they bought) and decided to do away with baths a good 10 years ago and have no complaints.

I dont do baths as OH is Finnish, rather than getting that idea off my folks.

Indeed, it worked very well for centuries.

The idea that you have to stand up and have high-pressure water sprayed over your naked body before breakfast every morning is a modern phenomenon, and one that horrifies me. I suppose it is warmer than going outside to stand in the rain, but not my idea of relaxation. Save it for the car!

My brother's place doesn't have a bath and its a room more than big enough for a bath and seperate shower unit. Strikes me as odd but he seems to like it.

So he has a bath that can say "Yes I'm nearly there, just a little bit deeper".

Excellent choice!
