We change a lot of bathrooms to shower only rooms, but mainly for retired customers, (bungalows), who are now struggling to get in / out of a bath, or when the customer has more than one bathroom.

For resale, a family house will need to have a bath. But regardless, if the OP is planning to stay a long while, then don't worry about selling, install what you want now, and enjoy.
That's what my folks are planning, but the plumber they have has suggested a bath sized shower tray, so it can easily be converted back when (I) sell it (parents current plan is to die there).

I've suggested their en-suite is made into a wet room as well, good resale as well as solving the carpet & Father incontinence issues frown

Can't you have the shower in the bath...?
I hate the shower in the bath. In my not very valid opinion, a shower should be in it's own seperate cubicle or as part of a wetroom. I love my shower, it even has a "BOOST" button for when you really need to clean off the dirt smile

Why? Have a big enough bath and it's better than a claustrophobic shower cubicle. My main bathroom has a corner bath with a stonking pump driven shower and it's brilliant. I prefer it to the very nice looking and expensive cubicle in the en suite.

My shower has a boost button too - and it's over the bath. If Boost doesn't get the crud off you need a Karcher biggrin

We got rid of out bath and installed a big shower quadrant.

the kids are 11 & 15 so its abit easier getting them in the shower rather than the bath.

It suits us, the bathroom was too small anyway, it always looked cramped.

the plusses are its cheaper to run, smaller, neater, tidier,

The only downside weve found is that washing the dog is a little harder.

if itwas hindering a house sale i would revert it to how it was
