It's amazing this wasn't in there from the start.
What did it do before, just heat water all the time!?
Yes, but only when someone was in the house, as is the Tado's wont. What did it do before, just heat water all the time!?
Laying in bed from midnight to 6am, hot water, burn fuel!
Madness

I am interested in the hot water control but I don't have a wire anywhere near my tado unit that links to the hot water system. My tado is where my old thermostat used to be. Currently I just leave my hot water permanently on as there is a thermostat on the tank.
That's how I had it configured until Tado added the new HW schedule today. I have now used the Tado Box to replace the Programmer/Timer, so that it can control the HW and Heating.Collected my replacement Tado from the post office this morning, it's identical to the one pictured earlier. Was an absolute doddle to wire, once I'd established I just wanted to connect the two switch wires to H and HCircle, Live, Neutral and Earth just needed connecting to the power coming in and the power going out to the boiler. Everything fired up great and it seems to be doing a good job.
The App looks decent, though there's room for it to be built upon and I hope they do. Would like to see Widget and notification tray options as well as shortcut buttons in Android. I do need a Windows Phone 8 App for my girlfriend, but I believe that's on the way.
As it happens I dropped my original kit off at the post office as I was collecting the new one. Have to say the customer service has been fantastic, with a replacement sent out immediately, even though it was probably my fault I ended up with the wrong one.

So if I move my Tado from it's current location (where the thermostat used to be), to where the programmer currently is, that will do it?I can't see anything relating to HW in the app or in the website logon.

In Theory it SHOULD but speak to Tado and confirm .. I have my Wifi Temp Sensor where my Stat used to be and the main unit where my programmer used to be.I can't see anything relating to HW in the app or in the website logon.

Tado need to switch the option on for you before you will see it as an option (unless you initially said yes to the water option on set up).

Thats right, the water option only shows if you followed the correct path in the install wizard. Tado have added a new option in the Web App settings that allow you to reset your installation. I used this and then went through the wizard selecting the options to control hot water and then the options appeared on the phone app. I guess you could just contact them and ask them to switch the options on.I can't see anything relating to HW in the app or in the website logon.
They released a new version of the Phone App yesterday that has more Hot Water options as well.
Do any manufacturers actually publish technical information about these things? All I'm finding is terabytes of gloss. Unfortunately I'm not a hipster applelisti looking for a gadget, I have requirements of it.
Namely that I'm running UFH downstairs and rads upstairs and would need either a) two timed zones with one being the UFH on manual wallstats, or b) multiple zones and controlling the UFH rooms directly. With the ability to toggle on via smartphone (the location tracking would be of no use)

The reviews of the Nest don't look great, some users reporting massive increases in usage.

Think I'll stick with my wireless thermostat.
The predictive usage can only be so good- I found on a DEVIlink system that the customer set the stat to an unobtainable temp which resulted in it coming on earlier and earlier until it was running 24/7.https://community.nest.com/thread/1021

This was a flaw in how the client understands, uses and locates the stats more than any fault with the equipment though- if they introduce a web interface (which they suggested they're looking into) it should be a prime contender
Google just announced some fairly epic integration plans for Nest.
Once google now starts getting built into cars, it will do things like turn your heating on at exactly the right time to have the house up to temperature based on the ETA your car is telling it.
I was looking at the Honeywell rival last week, but to an android geek like me, this is a total game changer.

Precisely what we have, and Heatmiser does the job admirably. We use a wiring centre, the Netmonitor and the touchscreen thermostats in each zone.Namely that I'm running UFH downstairs and rads upstairs and would need either a) two timed zones with one being the UFH on manual wallstats, or b) multiple zones and controlling the UFH rooms directly. Alrighty then, Ive got my Bosch / NeFit Easy installed and running.
It was very, very easy to do. I had to change the backing plate for the thermostat and install a communication module for my boiler. 30mins physical work and some wire splicing. Once the thermostat was plugged in all I had to do is input the WiFi password and sync it to our phones / tablets.
Great
Only thing left to do is sort a backing surround to cover up the unpainted section of wall.
The Sw looks to be very good indeed, with an easy to use clock program, learning functions, proximity operation etc. Hot water can be set to clock program or automatic. Its got all the usual holiday functions and you can of course remote access to warm the house up before you return.
There are lots of extra functions (e.g. gas monitor) planned for release this year.
Total cost was €200 for the thermostat and €35 for the comms module. We absolutely cane our gas in the winter, so hoping this will pay itself back rather quickly
