Hi

Bought 4 items frim miele nearly 5 years ago.

Freezer conked out and was thrown away after 2 years - out of warranty repair costs made repairing unworthwhile.

Washing machine seal split - told unlikely to be covered by warranty.

Dishwasher front oanel seal leaking water.

I have arranged for them to cone and look at he disheasher as cant beleive it is a maintenance issue.

I asked if the engineer could have a quick look at the dishwasher seal aswell - miele wanted to put it on another order - which would be 72 quid call out just to look if not covered - which the service operator implied it wasnt.

So 4 items - 1 dead - 2 with issues - and i was told on the phone the miele range are tested to ensure 20 year lifespans - bollux!

800 quid for a washing machone and they argue the toss over a split seal?

Anyway - rant over.

For he dishwasher - the dribbles of water are coming out he front panel - under the strip just beliw the buttons and writing,
Strange place to get a leak.
Any experiemce of this etc?

Thanks

Actually - ive cancelled the appointment.

Ill let the darn things diintegrate and then buy something more reliable - rather than risk being ripped off.

Absolute junk.

Similar to stoves cookers.

Control knobs on cooker melting when doirs open - because they ate made of plastic covered by solver tin foil.

They give replacement knobs a cople of times and then you have to buy them
Even if it is a desugn flaw.

Miele and stoves - quality products - ahum

Some people really like their stuff at all, my onky experience with them has been somewhat negative. Since I've been involved with kitchens I've always recommended Bosch and have never had a problem with them.

i had a dishwasher, had to be repaired several times under the 5 year warranty. Once it was clearly a user issue, but they still fixed it FOC.

However at 5.5 years it stopped working and the repair was going to be in excess of £500. Moved to Bosch appliances now.

I make bespoke furniture including kitchens. Miele are really losing the plot as a company, its supply network to the trade etc and I've heard of unreliable appliances. Overpriced now, but th upper middle classes still spend their money on them.

I would recommend Siemens or Bosch for dishwashers and lebherr for anything chilled ie fridge or freezer. Mercury would have been my recommendation for cookers, but since they have been taken over by AGA I wouldn't bother.

Another vote for Bosch. Have their entry level washer, freezer, fridge and other than replacing a door seal in the washer they have never missed a beat in 6 years.

"A five dollar shake" is what I think when I looked at these. £1000 per item seems a lot regardless of how good they might be. I could replace my Bosch products 3 times for the same money. If i had spent that kind of money i ffeel I would have to tell everyone about my appliances.

Money no object then yes you could justify them.

We have a Miele dishwasher and its average at best. Certainly wouldn't make me rush out and buy anything else of theirs. Washing machine and fridge are AEG and these have been fine.

The thing that gets me is the warranty.

At those prices it should be fantastic - no quibble.

I expect them to replace the seal with a yes sir, sorry sir.
But no - they then stuff you for 72 quid call out and 72 quid an hour plus parts.

I wasted money when i bought their products.

But im happy in the knowledge that many people researching their products will find this and similar forums.
And theyll get the business they deserve - ie less.

Blimey, last time I looked everyone said Miele were fab and lasted 10+ years!

Sooo... they bought cheap components or got them made in Kazakstan and hoped nobody would notice?

No idea what Miele are like now, all our stuff is at least 10 years old and working perfectly. some of it replaced Bosch stuff that was shockingly bad. We did have a warranty repair on the washing machine once, I think it was just a new seal, the appointment was easy to make and the tech turned up on time with the right part and did the job quickly and was polite and tidy. so i'm still a fanboy and will stick with them until proved otherwise.
Companies do change, we had AEG stuff in our first fitted kitchen and it was rubbish, so that washing machine that reeled off 18 years without a spanner on it wasnt a good indicator. The Smeg stuff we replaced it with has been amazing, but again some people have had bad experinces.

Had Miele washing machine for 11 yrs, never had a problem. Also have Miele dishwasher (7yrs) - missus killed our Bosch one with a match! Miele trap far better designed. Parents have a miele washing machine for over 15 yrs. Not had to look at new stuff, maybe they've value engineered recently?

These are the Swedish ASKO brand just rebadged for ISE in the UK as Asko pulled out of the UK market (dont know if they still do commercial stuff in the UK?). We had an Asko washer for 16 years and it was better built and designed than the miele that replaced it. At the time I didn't know that it was possible to get another Asko through ISE. The miele washer flooded my kitchen within a month of install and they couldn't get out to look at it for two weeks - I fixed it myself.

I've had three Bosch appliances and my experience is such that I'll never have a bosch appliance ever again.

Miele do seem to have gone downhill. As well as the washer mentioned above, I recently bought a miele dishwasher (replacing a 14 year old miele). New one isn't as good at washing as the old one.

I've also had poor experience with miele on the customer service front. Some of their phone staff seem to think that they are doing you a favour by deigning to speak to you.

leibherr make fridge freezers for miele. I believe they are the only appliances outsourced. I bought a leibherr built in fridge freezer top of the range with built in icemaker. after 2yrs and a bit it packed up. leibherr supplied me with a new one at much discounted price as per trading standards best practice. 1600 quid appliance for 550. so I have a new appliance and warranty.

Local repair man declared the fridge freezer as having an internal leak. When I questioned him about the best appliances in refrigeration he declared them all crap. All makes are now crap. The reason is the greens. Green people with no knowledge of anything get into positions of power in Brussels etc and make idiotic regulations which require efficiency standards that cannot be met without making machines with very short lives. It is obviously much better for the environment to reduce power consumption by 5 or 10% saving 3 parts of nothing then throw the appliance in landfill and use loads of energy making a new one. All greens are idiots and we are paying for them and their applied stupidity many many times over.evil

We have a Miele cat and dog hoover. The extending hose broke, out of warranty, so a replacement from Miele was going to be £50+, aftermarket £15-£20. I phoned Miele on the off chance they would do me a deal as it shouldn't have broke. To my surprise, they agreed and send me out a new one free :-) So my experience was good. Saying that though, my whites are all Siemans or Bosch !

Never bought Miele so can't comment on any personal experiences, but my entire kitchen at home is Bosch - all been in now for around 12 years.

The dishwasher pump went last year, could have spent £150 having it changed, but at 11 years old, just replaced the unit for £300.

I'm actually at the point now where the appliances (double fan oven, ceramic hob, fridge etc) will long outlast the kitchen units!

We have an Amana side by side fridge/freezer. They are a USA based outfit and used to he part of the Raytheon group so may all be wired with a CIA microphone from the factory. Its a well designed and engineered peice of kit and must be 20 years old now and has needed zero maintenance in that time. I'm sure it is not the most energy efficient, however for about 60% of the year here in the UK that energy input is helping to heat the house so I'm relaxed about it.
I can still remember when it arrived, there was small team of fitters and a ramp had to be built and some internal doors removed to get it into the kitchen, it had to be plumbed in to the rising main as well. The OH specced it in that crinkly white plastic they call "elephant hide" to avoid the constant cleaning stainless needs. It wheels in and out easily for cleaning, but you may need a structural engineer to check floor loadings smile
If they are still in business and the quality is the same then thats what I would recomend. I cant remember the brand it replaced, but I do recall that I was so p*ssed off with the usual rubbish that I was prepared to go for a 115v Amana plus a transformer. when I checked it out they had started offering 240v units.
