We have a Worcester Boiler 24i junior I think and we dont have a thermostat. it has a manual timer where you click teeth that turn it on and off.

we also have valves on the rads.

It often gets to hot so we end up switching it off and then we end up to cold. Can I install a wireless thermostat?

I see newer models have that kind of system but wasnt sure if you can retro fit to an older model.

I dont want to have to feed wires etc and damage wall paper etc.

Thanks

Can't imagine a system without a thermostat. Aren't the radiator valves those TRV jobbies?

Hi.
Had the same problem in my last two house, both with older Worcester Bosch boilers (wife puts heating on, no danger she'll put it off, house eventually gets to 30deg? Sound about right?)

Anyway, on both of mine it was possible, but you would need to be happy to do a little bit of wiring (really easy)

Inside the boiler terminal box, there was a row of connector strips. On both of the ones I did, the room stat connections were clearly marked, and come from the factory with a link fitted. Simply remove the link and wire a suitable 2 core cable from here to your wireless stat base station, which you can fit anywhere (mine went just by the boiler both times-this cable needs to be suitable for mains power- if in doubt, you could do all the donkey work yourself and get a tame spark to do final connections)

Mount the thermostat sensor part wher you need it, then set em up as the manual. Bingo.
Much, much better than the TRV s which were hopeless

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat as the OP. No thermostat. So we basically set the outbound water temp to max and use a timer.

The boiler them comes on in 5 minute intervals as it gets the water warm enough, so turns off. Rinse and repeat.

ETA: Surely my boiler will behave in the same manor though, as it'll still get up to the temp for the boiler to cut off. All this will do is tell the boiler when be heating until it hits a temp.
