Fellas,

Would appreciate some advice on tackling the following, know nothing about gardens but trying to tidy up the mess I was left with when I bought this house!

Got some minging half dead grass in my front garden and leftover tree stumps. The gypo type that came to the door and cut down the trees and plants applied some stuff to the stumps and said it'd kill them and turn to mush in 6 weeks, that hasn't happened. He said that once the tree was cut it'll never grow back anyway, I know nothing about trees so is that true? Is there anything worth applying to them and is it worth digging down further and cutting out more of the stumps? Will the roots then just decay over time? i.e. no regrowth?

I need an idea of what to put on the grass too, it'll then be turfed over.

Next q.....

Our drain was blocked (that's my next rant, previous owner bawbag covered up one access point with decking and laid turf over the other!) and dynorod eventually managed to unblock it after finding the 'hidden' access/rodding points. The pressure was such that there's stty mess around my garden now laugh How the hell do I kill the stench?!!

Speak to a REPUTABLE tree surgeon. Most will have stump grinder that will take the trunk down to ground level

Jayes fluid is quite good for disinfection, I would definetly use that on any parts of the garden where you can see any waste. It does smell though but better than sewer waste. Secondly, when they managed to erupt waste everywhere, they should have washed it down and this would have killed some of the smell. Not too late now but will take extra effort to try and dilute and wash it away.
