Hi My Dog has chewed an internal door. I have carried out a poor repair with some filler and paint. Are these simply some mouldings I can lever off and replace?

They will be separate mouldings on one side but part of the door frame (ie fixed) on the other.

So if it's the loose side, yes you can lever them off and replace with new moulding from B&Q etc. However don't expect the new moulding to be a perfect match for the old one.

And sods law will of course dictate that the dog has chewed the wrong side hehe

If it is the fixed side, you can run a sharp knife down the edge of the damaged moulding as far as the glass and lever it out and replace. Before you replace it hold a flat piece of something up aagainst the damaged frame and fill the damage, you'll get a decent square edge that way.

Thanks chaps. I can't tell if it's the "fixed" side or not due to the paint. I'll try the knife trick.

A perfect match is unimportant. I just want to make it less obvious.

thumbup Was it the beaded (easy side), or did you have to cut through the solid moulding?

Leave the dog the off-cuts to chew instead of the door! smile

Beaded easy side. Banished dog to garden.
