^^ this- sort of
Persil Works in much the same way as Vanish Oxi- in that it creates foam/micro bubbles within the fabric when wet, lifting the dirt. This is caused by the chemical reaction in the (now wet) powder/paste formula with the oxygen naturally found in water, the tumbling of the washing machine increases the air volume in the water, im the same way that you have an air pump in a fish tank.
If you add oxygenated water to the mix, it will lather up, but the colour within the powder will remain. Ideally you will either need to take it to a dry cleaners (where they use tetrachloroethylene, instead of water as the cleaning liquid) or use water that you have boiled in the kettle twice, leaving to stand still. Boiling the water reduces the amount of oxygen and particulates in it, giving it the different taste when you drink cooled boiled water. This will dilute the dye used within the powder, but will not cause the active cleaning ingredient to react.
If you have any more Q's about it post em up and i'll try my best to answer them for you.
Hope this helps
So I should boil the kettle twice and try cleaning with that water? when its cooled down? DO NOT touch the kettle.
Get an adult to help with this bit.
get some ice, melt it, then boil that water
let that water cool down, then put it in the freezer overnight
in the morning, crush that ice with a mortar and pestle, leave it in a bowl on the window ledge for the day
then boil it, and use that water (cooled, with some tap water) to clean it off
let that water cool down, then put it in the freezer overnight
in the morning, crush that ice with a mortar and pestle, leave it in a bowl on the window ledge for the day
then boil it, and use that water (cooled, with some tap water) to clean it off

well, yes. you could do that- it would be the same effect, but thats just being silly- boiling it twice will work fine.let that water cool down, then put it in the freezer overnight

O, you need to cool the water gently so that it stays boiling. Twice.
no, it doesnt matter, so long as it has been boiled twice then the oxygen levels within the water will be negligable.Hugo a Gogo said:

So what you're saying islet that water cool down, then put it in the freezer overnight
in the morning, crush that ice with a mortar and pestle, leave it in a bowl on the window ledge for the day
then boil it, and use that water (cooled, with some tap water) to clean it off
1) get some water
2) freeze it
3) melt it
4) boil it
5) cool it
6) freeze it
7) crush it
8) melt it
9) boil it
10) cool it
11) dilute it
Seems straight forward enough to me.

and make sure to clean out the kettle first with some hot (cooled) ice water
But now you've made it complicated again. WTF is hot (cooled) ice water? Something to do with the 'triple point'?Edited by SWoll on Wednesday 20th March 14:11
