Garage flooring
Discussion
my new house has a large 6m x 10m garage that I'm looking to convert into gym as well as storage for a car, ideally could like to but down a rubber floor but was just wondering what would be the best option would be ? would gym rubber flooring cope with a car sitting on it for long periods of time with out leaving indents ? any recommendations of flooring that would be suitable for dual purpose garage and gym?
Had these for the gym area in my old garage. Doubt there'd be a problem having a car on them. I didn't have them in the car bit of the garage as I work on the cars and concrete is always better for jacking, spilling oil etc

Carpet tiles are a brilliant shout, I’ll have to go hunting for some now!
Damn PH costing me money…
When I moved into my new house the PO had carpet tiles and thin "fuzzy felt" carpet in all the garages, every time I went in there I was bitten - hasn't happened since I removed them, so be aware of that possibilityDamn PH costing me money…
This has pickled me as I've come back to finish my newish garage after 2 years of moving in. It's 18ft by 18ft but I am only tiling half (well half and a strip more for when I work on the car) as The other half is used for utilities.
I'm going with a dark / medium grey but would like smooth tiles for when i need to jack the car up, I found the penny / slash type tiles a pain before. Rtek was the one I wanted but after seeing marks unsure unless I put a carpet tile under the wheels like I do now. Hmm have to think on this.

Never had any issues, and makes a massive difference in the garage!
Extra tenner of black tyres bought (again, s/h but good) to make tyre tracks for the fun car!

Apologies for the cheap shampoo!!
I have just had a quote to resin my double garage floor.
Primer, Light grey poured Epoxy, Flakes and clear sealer £2500 + Vat
Seems a bit expensive to me.
Also my cars and lifts etc would need to be outside for 2-3 days which I don't fancy. I think I may get a rubber flooring fitted which would take a fitter a morning to do at most.

I had a similar quote for mine in the South East so I went with c£70 of carpet tiles and half a days fitting them in a chequerboard pattern Primer, Light grey poured Epoxy, Flakes and clear sealer £2500 + Vat

Sounds extortionate to me. Have you priced up the materials yourself - looks like they want to charge 2k+ for labour !Primer, Light grey poured Epoxy, Flakes and clear sealer £2500 + Vat

Duramat samples arrived. Straight away the circle dots and slashes got ruled out as cant put a jack over them its a pain. Plain tiles looked good but literally scratched when i moved the jack on them so no use as looks a state. In the bin they went and moved on
This is what I found with the tiles, they look like they'll scratch easy. I think I'm just going to go for stable mats as it'll be used as a gym and parking occasionally..Kev_Mk3 said:

That's a pity. Why can't a jack go over the circles?I haven't ordered any yet either, still painting, but was planning on plastic tiles. Samples I ordered were more like rubber than plastic and didn't seem to mark but will test again

I wouldn't be doing handbrake turns or anything, but I might on occasion want to jack up the car or put it on stands. No point painting it all if it gets damaged easily.

So my RTEK sample also turned up yesterday in addition to the samples I received (bought) from Dyno tile mentioned above. I received lots of other coffee mug sized samples last year from the usual suppliers, but ruled them all out as I want seamless joins.
Here's the RTEK tile next to the Dyno (smaller sized) tile.
Initial comparisons:
- RTEK it rubbery\flexible, Dyno plastic and rigid.
- RTEK is very heavy in comparison
- RTEK is ~10mm thick, Dyno ~6mm.
- Prefer the smoother pattern on the RETEK tile.
- Worried the RTEK tile may not site perfectly flat on the floor despite it's weight. Can see some edges are not flat to the floor. Think I'll cut it in half and see how it joins together.
- That said, it would deal with the imperfections of my concrete floor better I suspect.
- No underlay required with RTEK.
Overall, not sure what to to go for. I think RTEK would look better once laid and nicer to walk on. Suspect it will come down to price.
ordered both lots as samples my self to see which works bestHere's the RTEK tile next to the Dyno (smaller sized) tile.

What are the current thoughts on garage flooring? In my old house I had Ecotile flooring and was really happy with it, but since originally purchasing (2014ish?) there is more choice in the market.
As I was happy with the ecotile I'm looking for similar (7mm textured surface). I don't want coin / checker, and I'm not bothered about visible joins as I'll be going for a single colour - my previous was black, but likely to go for a grey (or other) colour this time as black showed every speck of dirt. I need around 30sqm
From searches I have found the following do a smooth finish tile.
Versa-Tile - No Prices on their website
Garage Tile Shop - 28 sq/m
Garage Floors Direct - 27sq/m
Garage Pride - 34 - 38 sq/m depending on tile
Garage Floor Tile Company - 28.50 sq/m
Ecotile - No prices on website, but I think they are also the Garage Floor Tile Company
RTek - No prices on website
Does anyone have any comments (good or bad) about any of the tiles above, or does anyone have any other suggestions for companies I might have missed?

I spoke to Garage Floor Tile company today and they confirmed that they are the same company as EcoTile and that they are the domestic retail arm of ecotile, Ecotile have a larger range of tiles for different applications but mainly sell to business/commercial now.
They also explained to me that the "packs" they sell are discounted, and I was told that they ship 4 extra tiles in each pack (eg the 27sq/m pack is actually 28sqm). I need 31sqm so decided to buy a pack + 3sq/m, the bonus was that after adding them to my basket on their website and entering the checkout process there was a 10% discount code available, so the order has been placed and I should get them delivered next week.
Has anyone any idea how to work out edging and how many fe and male i would need as I'm so confused.

I have just ordered mine from Garage Floor Tile Co., due to be delivered next week.Has anyone any idea how to work out edging and how many fe and male i would need as I'm so confused.
If you email them your floor size and any particular design you have in mind, they will work out what you need to buy (taking into account the extras you get in each box).
