Garage flooring
Discussion
I’ve got dynotile in my garage. It’s been down for about 18 months or so and am happy with them.
They do flex a bit in the summer if the garage door is open and the sun is shining on them, but go back to normal after. They can come a bit unlocked sometimes if you dry steer on them, but just a quick tap back in and they are fine.
Overall, really satisfied with the result.
I wouldn’t recommend them if you plan to work/lift your car a lot. I had my car raised on them and the floor did bend. Again went to normal after but it didn’t look like it would be a suitable solution for a lot of work like that.
They were really easy to fit, and I enjoyed the process. Quite therapeutic! When I got to the cutting/edging though I got my Dad involved as I’m crap at DIY but he bossed it out in a few hours, me measuring and him sawing, then me banging them in place with a rubber mallet.

Those of you with carpet tiles, how are they fairing after a year or two of use? I’m concerned about them absorbing and retaining moisture and also a post earlier in the thread about being bitten!!
Mine have been down two years now - I had one experience of them getting wet under the doors after some bonkers rain but I dried them simply by standing them up on their edge, and then relaid them a few days later. Quick vacuum from time to time and they look as good as new.Notwen said:
I have just ordered mine from Garage Floor Tile Co., due to be delivered next week.
If you email them your floor size and any particular design you have in mind, they will work out what you need to buy (taking into account the extras you get in each box).
This is where I got mine from. Unfortunately where the car stands there are permanent tyre marks/indents, which they assured me wouldn’t happen! Other than that I’ve been happy with them If you email them your floor size and any particular design you have in mind, they will work out what you need to buy (taking into account the extras you get in each box).

I've had carpet tiles down for about 7 years now. I bought them in bulk off ebay on a pallet so had quite a few more than I needed so I've swapped the ones that the tyres drive on a few times but only because I could and not because I needed to. Occasionally the ones at the door will get wet if there's a monsoon and driving rain but they dry quickly. Never been bitten by anything!!Cloudy147 said:
I dont understand where all you guys STUFF is. My garage would look ten times better just without the clutter, but I have boxes of tools and car parts all over the place. I does need a tidy, but even tidied down there are racks of tools and storage boxes and some overflow.dhutch said:

Quick vacuum from time to time and they look as good as new.I stuck a shaped rubber strip on the door edge our electric roller doors come down on, & that has stopped any water or leaves from getting in, as well as looking neat and tidy. This kind of thing, although I don’t recall it being that pricey!
Need to tidy it a bit, mind…..
I have to say that if you aren’t the sort to be doing a lot of oily spannering, the carpet tiles have been a brilliant solution! Wood dust hoovers up easy enough.

GFC 2 day delivery - Rtek 2 weeks. I'm not in a rush so probably go to Rtek
I'm re thinking my choice here as Rtek I've been trying to get hold of since last week seems they shut but didnt put a answerphone or anything on. Chap who originally quoted - quoted wrong, I've had 3 more quotes since but they wont give me itemised prices / sizes just " you need 3 packs for that and we've added extra for you to cut at this cost " despite me not asking for that.
So now its a lot more the cost that the GFC so unsure what to do as tiles basically look the same. I did try to pay over the phone but they have to send me a invoice to then callback to pay over the phone...

Not as clean as some on here but this is mine. Tools etc all stowed down the side plus boarded the loft space out for bigger stuff, Xmas decs, car parts etc. Flooring from garage floor tile company.
How are your tiles holding up?Ive had my graphite GFC tiles down about a year, and they scratch and scuff so easily. Im tempted to actually call them ask see if ive had a soft batch of tiles.

Mine are graphite too (and red obviously!). I have indents and tyre marks from where the car has sat, these appeared after the first few months of fitting. I’ve a few scratches and marks as well but nothing too major. It’s the fact the car sitting there has damaged them, when they specifically stated that wouldn’t happen that’s annoyed meIve had my graphite GFC tiles down about a year, and they scratch and scuff so easily. I have for months been pondering what to do with the bare concrete floor in my garage. I had settled on using a levelling compound and then an epoxy paint but I was taken with this photo in this month's Motorsport magazine - it's James Hunt's F3 car in Bubbles Horsley's workshop.
I have located some very cheap engineered wood floor and having received a sample it seems impervious to oil and very hard, time will tell. But at a cost on a par with, or less, than using resins and epoxy paint, and with no mess plus the advantage that I can do it in stages and move cars in and out as soon as it's completed I thought I would go for it. I'll let you know how I get on but meanwhile the supplier's mock-up of how it should look is good enough to keep me enthusiastic about starting the job!
