I also have a side/evening project going on building an arcade machine with a raspberry pie, running retro pie. I wanted it to look like it was a ver early machine so have teak veneered the cabinet. Had a nightmare with a wiring issue but I've fixed it now.

The arcade machine is almost finished, just need to make the marquee for the top, great fun. Loving centipede and pac man at the minute.

This is where I'm up to on the extension, floor in, walls almost framed out

Amazing work and all the more impressive you're doing this all yourself!
Thanks Progress seems to have been a bit slow. Had a few health issues which slowed me down but I've been back on it now which is good. Had a big push the last week or so as I had the doors book to go in today.
Main roof beam going in. Bit lump as it is a vaulted ceiling. Had a couple of mates help me lift this in.

Only just discovered this thread, what a great read! Your can-do attitude is to be admired, especially the 'can't find a builder I'll do the extension myself' bit. Although I did assume you were going to build it with scaffold boards!
Cheers I suppose I could have clad it with scaffold boards But I've got some larch in for it. It's taking much longer than I thought it would and I've been getting a bit fed up with it to be honest. Thankfully it's not really disrupting the rest of the house. Still no choice but to carry on now Got a jigsaw on the go, where we took down the window to make a door it has left a gap in the parquet. Got a box of bits from eBay so having to scrape the old glue off the back, give them a sand and then get them in. Once it’s all sanded, filled and oiled should look OK

Great job! We have the exact same issue where we have removed a fireplace and need to patch the floor in. We also uncovered parqet in another room which needs sanding and finishing to match as it is darker in this room than the rest of the house.
The whole floor needs sanding back but that will have to wait for another year! It's nearly ready to varnish the new bit now. Meanwhile I fitted the soffits and facia boards the other day and today the roofer came and tiled the roof. So nice to have someone else do the work for a change! I was envious of how quickly three people can make progress after I've been struggling on my own.

That one really dark one in the middle would annoy me. I’d catch it in the corner of my eye every time I went through the doors! Lovely apart from that.
That’s one of the original ones!I’m sure in a year or so it will all be sanded and done again to be perfect, but I’d say you’ve done a great job there, what a transformation!

Been busy on it recently, gutters up, drains in, started on the decking. It's decking rather than stone as there needs to be airflow to the vents that go under the house. The gutters I used are Lindab metal ones, great product to work with, highly recommended. Trying to get the decking all done before our big annual BBQ at the end of the month.

Had a slight set back when the building inspector came, despite the fact I'd pre-tested the pressure on the drains the test just wouldn't work on the day! I had to scrape out the gravel and found that one of the adjustable angle pipes was causing the problem so I've replaced that now. Got a retest tomorrow, wish me luck!
Building inspector was very pleased with the rest of the build though
Here's how the deck is coming on, I've made up a table too.
