Now that's a proper house! Not the best location in the world, but could be worse I guess!

Another rail station here:

This is in Petworth - built as a Royal Station in the 1800's for the Prince of Wales to visit Goodwood.

When they start prosecuting people for crimes against architecture and interior design then these people are going to be summarily executed. Another attempt to blend old house with modern car showroom, and the interiors should carry a health warning.

We had that Audi dealership car crash a couple of months ago.http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...
It's still revolting, ruining a perfectly good house.

Rather splendid - a nice mix of old house and new interior design IMO

It's a no from me. Cookie-cutter Fifty Shades Of Greige interior design that has been seen without variation or innovation in every prime/super-prime London property for a decade now. Every surface or item is new, just the way that the Russians/Chinese/whoever's like it, the better to display their wealth. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...
Even the outside has been pointed to death so it looks like a new build.
Truly dreadful.

In 50 years time, people will look back at modern extensions tacked onto period houses in the same way as we look back at 60s concrete carbuncles.
I agree. Part of the issue is with planning, quite often planners insist that extensions should look substantially different to the original house. My college (modern) has one solitary old building. It is a rather lovely Edwardian villa. Originally it was slated for demolition to complete the initial brutalist master-plan. Fortunately, circumstances meant it survived until the college had been forced to move away from the original blueprint and the building became a much-loved part of the college fabric.
I have just found out they are adding a "glass box" extension to it.
I cancelled my regular donation to the college endowment, explaining that they are philistines.

This is up the road from me. Proper old unmodernised country house, no cinema room, no black marble, no grey crushed velvet sofas - nothing that would appeal to a Russian Oligarch at all.
Comes with a lake, lovely parkland, stable block etc. etc.
A proper old money pit I'd imagine, but there are fewer and fewer intact, unspoiled country houses around these days - they're either ripped apart to 'modernise' them (ie. add bling and remove character) or split into apartments.
If I had the money I'd buy this and restore it.

Been on TV - http://www.channel4.com/programmes/obsessive-compu...Be for sale since at least 2011 - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...
I agree that a lot of the modern boxes tacked onto the older stuff are awful, but in this one, I think it's been done quite well...
Interesting choice of garage contents too...

Small, expensive, but perfectly formed. I love the design on this one.

Really nice, the details are great, love the outside balcony space. Taking any inspiration for your renovation Harry?http://www.themodernhouse.com/sales-list/5796_morn...
Someone tried to sell me the idea of a plywood kitchen in my house, which is late Victorian. I laughed at them, lots. Wouldn't even use that in a garage!
