Not bad for a lad who failed a Grammar school entrance exam - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Hayward
It sounds like he probably had a few good after dinner stories to tell.

I was expecting a rags to riches tale, not 'failed grammar entrance so millionaire knighted industrialist father sent him to Stowe' tbh!

Looks very unloved and down at heel, could probably spend another half mill renovating the outside of the buildings and grounds.

Seeing as my intentions for the Engine House are not possible, I thought I would widen my search - and found this.

I think it might have been posted before, but looks good - though might be a trifle out of budget! smile

one xmas for a few nights. i'd live in one tomorrow. good luck
I've stayed there too - remember starting to wonder if we were going the right way when crossing over that little wooden bridge at the top of the road biggrin

Lovely place, I do like a Landmark.

Also stayed here with family - its just up the road from Danescombe - what a house:

I've also stayed there, but I was quite young, so I don't remember much. I recall some kind of treasure hunt or similar. Memories.

£500k might not even touch the sides if it were done properly.

The land round there is absolutely flat if that is of any consequence either way

I'd expect it to go for substantially more than guide price.

Damp, exposed beams (on the outside) and crapping out of the windows?
