The ebay generator restoration thread
Discussion
Not a generator but a towable cement mixer that needs a complete refurb.
Someone suggested I cross-post here as I need some help with a Honda GX160 engine that seems to have dodgy wiring and won't start.

Dad always knows best
Today's activities
Check valve clearances on Right cylinder, set flywheel to T.D.C for RH cylinder
Spot on as I hoped, if anything the RH valves were a little tighter, felt like a bit more drag on the feeler gauge
Finished replacing the fuel lines and got intake back on. Yes i may have given the valve covers a blow over with some black satin
Replaced the bit of pipe for viewing the fuel level in the tank
From this
To this, don't know how long it will last before getting stained again..
Next job was to straighten up the fuel filler.
The filler neck is welded to the frame helpfully the frame can be split into sections
Yep it's bent
After some careful application of a big bar for leverage, it's better but not perfect. I didn't want to push my luck! based on earlier attempt to straighten the fan cover.
Looking better
Reassembly started
Hi, I'm new here but hope I don't have to do big intros. Looks like you're doing a good job on that engine, I have just got hold of one (minus the generator) which I am (one of the crazies)planning on installing in a motorbike! This means I won't be using the fan housing, or the grille - might you be interested in an exchange, seeing as yours are broken? A photocopy of the user's manual would be extremely useful to me, as info for the engine seems very hard to come by.... let me know what you reckon, cheers Jonnyr48.Today's activities
