how to get rid of brambles lots and lots of brambles
Discussion
Hi,
At the bottom of my garden i have the railway and with it 150metres in length of 45degree banking thats full to bursting of thick brambles.
To the point that its pushing my fence over and has grown under the shed roof.
Ive tried a brushcutter for the past 3 years in the winter but every year it grows back thicker and faster.
Ive heard about farming weed killer and railway weed killer but i have no idea what they are actually called.
Suggestions

Try and buy some Glyphso (its got 260mg/l glphosphate - I think) whilst conventional weedkillers have perhaps 10mg/l
Glyphosate. The concentration of the, err, concentrate is immaterial; it's what you spray it on at that counts. And probably the formulation (rest of the chemicals) as well. Officially you can't use professional products, but in reality what you can blag from the farmer pal and spray over yourself is up to you.

It'll still grow back if you kill it with weedkiller. In my experience, you need to cut it and keep cutting - you may do it 4 or 5 times the first year, 2 or 3 the second, then maybe 1 or 2 after that, but it'll go in the end. I did a large orchard this way.....
My experiience is the opposite - it you cut it - it keeps coming back.360 kills the root - it's dead.
I cleared an acre of brambles and then sprayed with SBK every so often; it kills broad leafed plants but not grass so you get left with something you can mow. I sprayed for the first couple of years with decreasing frequency and haven't had to spray for about four years now so I guess they've all gone!
