You can't. Really, honestly, you can't. A tent or gazebo is a structure, so the usual rules on temporary structures would apply. It makes not a jot of difference in Planning terms whether a structure is made of fabric, brick, timber, or lovingly sculpted out of human excrement - it's still a structure.
Your best bet would be to put the car in the garage and - if necessary - build an outbuilding (or rear extension to your garage) in your rear garden, compliant with Permitted Development rights, to store whatever crap you have currently clogging up the garage.
Sorry, but that carport is bloody awful, I'm glad they're enforcing the take-down. I'd bet that in heavy rain that puts a lovely waterfall right onto the the pavement.
I'd expect a tent would block view of the roadway from the adjacent drive so that wouldn't be too popular with highways (or your neighbour, though that doesn't seem to be an issue).
Assume you can't get your car in the garage?
Do you need to use a cover at all? I'd have thought it'd be more damaging to the car than having a bit of rain on it.

OP needs a house with more side room, where I live, we have driveways all the way to the back gardens where the garage is. One chap down the road has had a car port structure from his garage in the back garden all along the side of his house, but it finishes flush with the front of his house. There is room for three to four cars under that length.
OP needs to demolish garage and rebuild it in back garden, and have a carport structure the length of the house and does not protrude in front of it. Optionally, paint 'fk YOU' down the length of the new carport roof for the neighbours edification. :-)

It does sit in front of my garage
so if i replace this with a gazeebo or garage tent do you think i will be able to get rid of them ?
Sorry - but there is nowhere in the western world that your structure is appropriate.so if i replace this with a gazeebo or garage tent do you think i will be able to get rid of them ?
Can you not see why this is an issue for a lot of folks?
Im not looking to break any planning laws but act within them. So alternatives is what im after if i can have a tent or gazeebo on my drive without breaking the rules then thats what ill do !
Instead of trying to act within the letter of the law - work within the spirit of them.
Any structure temporary or otherwise in your front garden is going to be unacceptable to most rational thinking people.
It isn't all about you.

Seems a shame to have to take it down after all that work
...But without enclosed sides, it would be pretty useless anyway cos the rain will just blow under.
Been up 2 months ! has worked ...But without enclosed sides, it would be pretty useless anyway cos the rain will just blow under.
Only a days work and £200 so no big real loss
