We're refitting our bathroom and looking to install a shower enclosure along side a bath. Measurements are a little tight so if we didn't have to hide a themostatic valve behind the tiles it would be very handy indeed.

Not keen on having an exposed valve, so a digital shower looks like a good option with only 1 pipe needing to be recessed into the wall. Does any one have any experience of them? The other brands like Crosswater, Aqualisa, Grohe do look better but in terms of what you get for the price, i'm not convinced. Hence the Platinum looks like a reasonable option.

Cheers.

Installed a few, no complaints. Digital display displays temp once turned, but the time if left I believe. You can adjust the flow as well as the temperature with the control.

More experience with Aqualisa's offerings, but they've been around longer.

My sisters got one and it works the shower fine but she has had the controller installed outside the cubicle near the door so you switch it on before you get in. Good idea - not.

When you open the shower door to get in you get water blasting out depending on how the shower head has been left. Likewise you cannot turn the shower off then get out of the cubicle so you are soaking wet getting out and drench the bathroom opening the door too.

She's got a corner quadrant cubicle. I guess with a large shower cubicle where you can walk out of the spray head whilst you get out wouldn't be so bad.

You can buy additional controllers

I had an Aqualisa Visage in my previous house. It was a shower over a bath. I had to open the glass shower screen to press the button. Due to it being electronic, it has to think for a second before sending the water to you, so plenty of time to move away and shut the screen back again. I'd have put the control in the shower myself, not outside!

You can get extra controllers with the Aqualisa, I assume also with the Mira. The Mira is also wireless from memory, so if could be moved into the shower as long as you can make good the wall from where you mvoe it from.

Thanks all, I've looked at the Aqualisa kit but found them a little flimsy feeling for the price. Think we'll go down the platinum route, the controller is wireless so can be shifted relatively easily and additional controllers can be added.

I bought an ex display Mira digital, the one before for platinum, off eBay for £160. I have a gravity fed system so I think this is why it was cheap. It's the best shower i've ever used, looks smart, works brilliantly well, just make sure you have a big enough water tank or make sure the hot water is switched on for long enough as it can run out after about 3 showers! Has warm up function and 3 power levels, I only use it on medium as it's plenty powerful enough.

Would 100% recommend!!

I also found the Mira far better built than the Aqualisa. The only issue we have with the Mira is that it eats batteries - a set every 3 months

Fitted both on many occasions but more Aqualisas than Miras. Both have been reliable but I think the Mira button looks big & clunky on the wall and changing batteries would get me down. I did wonder if in time that catapult style head on the Mira would start leaking where it pivots.
I can't fault the reliability of the Mira but I'm in the Aqualisa camp.

We have a Mira Platinum. Plumber recommended it saying it was expensive but worth the money and it was the one he had in his house. Had no issues with this one and would happily buy another in next house.

Still on original set of batteries in the remote after about 18 months, possibly depends on how good the wireless signal is as to how quickly it uses them?

IIRC I remember that being a known faulty firmware, give them a call.

I'm looking at showers at the moment as well, so providing the OP doesn't mind me hijacking, I'm trying to work otu - is a platinum worth it over a decent two output thermostatic mixer? Its about double the price?
