Picked this up off Facebook at the end of last year, can't get the damn thing started. Can't see any obvious problems. Having to use the electric Chinese thing for now
Start with the basics spark, fuel, compression.Remove the spark plug and hold the HT contact near (2-3mm) from one of the bolts on the top and pull the starter, you should get spark.if no spark you will have to start digging deeper.
Fuel, the carburetor is really simple, it's only held together by two screws in the top. check the float bowl for fuel, if no fuel the is a blockage which will need to be cleared. Check to see if there is dirt in the bottom of the bowl, if thee is lot of dirt/sediment the fuel passages in the carburetor are likely to be blocked so you will have to clean
While you have the spark plug out, stick your thumb over the spark plug hole and pull the starter you should feel a slight suction and some pressure some times the valves can stick or carbon can build up which can cause a loss of compression

Moved house three weeks ago...inherited this as part of the deal
Not very impressed with it....doesn't make a great job of mowing lawn and we have a paddock that is cut weekly which it really struggles with...the chute to the collector blocks every few minutes. Which is what I have read about it....
Seriously thinking about upgrading to a Kubota...either something like a GR2120 or even the BX2350 as there's a lot that needs doing and that could come in handy,
We also need to buy a petrol walk behind job....anyone recommend anything ? Need it to cut a bank the ride on can't negotiate.
Just found this thread again....well I did buy that Kubota, seems like there is quite a bit of love for them, great bit of kit ! Very glad I went for the tractor rather than mower with the front loader which comes in handy all the time. Went a bit over the top with the cutting deck but it’s made a massive difference....weighs 300 kg’s so it’s gradually doing a bit of levelling of the surface.

I had a new Mountfield like yours a few years ago - it was rubbish. Changed to a Honda which was very good.Went a bit over the top with the cutting deck but it’s made a massive difference....weighs 300 kg’s so it’s gradually doing a bit of levelling of the surface.
For a push mower, take a look at the latest Cobra mowers with Honda engines - self propelled - I have one and it's excellent for steep banks. Can mulch too.

Do you have model numbers as that setup looks useful?Went a bit over the top with the cutting deck but it’s made a massive difference....weighs 300 kg’s so it’s gradually doing a bit of levelling of the surface.

They're slightly too big and struggle to get a decent smooth finish over the curves, but it's good enough.

Posted in the lawn thread as well but just had this delivered today only cost me £70
Needs a good service but I'm quite chuffed with it.
Nice, I have one, cuts really well.
Any chance you could take the plastic side bit off, then post a picture of the guide roller that engages the blades please.
My roller keeps coming off so blades stop turning.
I’m wondering if somethings come off that holds it in place.
Appreciate it if you can.
Thanks.
Dave.

If the reel keeps stopping sounds like you might need new belts or they need to be tightened up.
I've just had to order some new bearings as one of mine had been smashed to pieces, I found this website useful which has realy clear schematics (other website are available)
Just check that the model code is the right one.

The cutting desk is a eTrimax Striker 150 https://trimaxmowers.co.uk/striker/
You can also get a mid mounted (between the wheels) cutting deck but it gets in the way if you’re using the tractor for other things (you can hit it on kerbs) and the finish isn’t as good because it’s not got the rollers on it. Kubota also do a rear mounted deck but my local dealer said the Trimax is the one all the professionals go for so if I ever wanted to sell would get a good price for it.
The Kubota has got a rear PTO which can be used for all sorts of things...shredder, log splitter etc Front loader is optional but a) I couldn’t mount the cutting deck without it as a counter weight and b) it’s bloody useful . e.g. We compost as much as possible....grass from more formal lawns and wood that drops from trees etc. We have a couple of pretty big compost heaps as a result which would almost be unmanageable without the Kubota.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Coming back to this (hopefully...) Which model is it? And what do you use it on? Just lawn or rougher stuff as well? I think I've decided to upgrade but trying to work out whether I need a Climber. My garden is a bit over 3/4 acre and square but rises 40ft over that area.

I do like the Honda, bought and sold a fair few since 2004, currently extending/constructing the rear of the garage for a 30m2 steel clad building to work on ride on projects.
