Narrow to Wide Roof, Cost?
Discussion
We are looking at having a full, 2 floored extension built on our existing house. We have a fair amount of space but it is a funny shape. The area in red is basically what we have to work with.
Due to the shape of the land we have to work with we ideal would like to have an extension where the wall at the front is narrower than the wall at the rear, as shown below.
Is it going to cost significantly more to build and roof the extension above compared to a more square extension. Again, like below.
We are in the very early stages of planning and considering our options. What is the likely hood of planning permission on the narrow to wide option compared to the square.
Many Thanks,
Silvs

I would certainly use all the space, it won't be a huge difference cost wise in the grand scheme of things.
So would I. If I've understood your drawings and dimensions right, and a quick fag packet calc shows there is an extra 14 - 15m2 of floor space in the blue option, approx. I think, but I have been drinking. I would do this option, otherwise you're left with a spit of land, which depending on your plot etc will just accumulate junk. Nuisance_Value said:
