I'm nearly 9 months pregnant and was digging the garden yesterday. Better to stay active so well done to her!

I'll let her know she's got 3 more months of work to get dusted.

Thanks for the ammo!

She's not particularly interested in doing decorating so I can't see that happening.

I want it done before due date as don't think I'll have the time or energy after!

Took a quick front snap on my out earlier to show the gate etc etc

Another finished room (well excluding a blind I need to put up!)

Bathroom!

OP! well done on your renovation so far. Very impressive stuff! I really like your bathroom. Where did you get the suite and the wall tiles from if you don't mind me asking?

Best of luck with the rest of the project.

That was our plan too, but Baby Owen arrived a bit earlier than we expected!

Suite was from Victorian Plum (it's name escapes me)
And the tiles were Johnsons - they do a similar colour but smaller size in topps tiles but it's double the price

Apologies for lack of updates... Been very busy with stuff non house related of late!

The big push is on!

We're currently stripping the last room; unfortunately is the lounge/diner and hallway so it's by far the biggest one. Plasterers are booked for the start of September to finish the whole lot. Seems plastering is the in call trade at the moment as I've had to wait for them... And it's quite expensive. They've got walls and ceilings to contend with and the double height stair well.

Bedrooms are plastered...

From

To

Main bedroom is plastered as well...

We're waiting on a couple of things to get progress rolling on the family painter and decorator is away on holiday, and the carpet we ordered is out of stock. Annoying but a room requiring just decorating and leap beyond where we started.

Discovered that my covering my serving hatch kitchen side was easier than the dining room size. Totally forgot to check how the sill and frame are fitted. Result is I've had to hack it back so I can box it and board it flush with the wall.

Oh.... Still hating wood chip!

Plans for today is to keep plugging away at the woodchip!

Then once that's off some insulation in two portion of stud work, chop some wonky plaster off, and remove the coving (not going back up) and the skirting boards (likely will reuse them)

Really loving what your doing here, style is fantastic and the work looks quality!

Can I ask where you bought the bathroom door from and if it was unfinished what you used to finish it, looks awesome!

Just starting the same as yourself, two rooms are stripped and waiting for the daylight robbery that is plastering to happen and then I can start decorating!

Sure - all the doors were from Howdens (think the actual name is further back somewhere). Come untreated and have been sealed with a couple of coats of satin varnish. Prior to sealing they absorbed moisture like a sponge!

The slog continues!

Plasterers start a week today! Still need to clear rooms and scrape ceiling and pva etc. But it's getting there....

This is hopefully the worst it can ever look!

2 months to due date!

Anyone recommend a cheap design decent hand rail for the stairs, I'm loathed to have one but apparently she wants one!

Fantastic read this thread! Exactly what my house has been through. In the midst of 2nd fix and final bits now.

Depends what you define as cheap? - The above is what we have put in - oak with chrome furniture and looks ace.

Ok you've confirmed it - I'm quite keen on sticking with oak rails with brushed steel hangers and brackets as it matches everything else we've done in the house to date. Thanks for the link.

Great, glad to help.

Bit of advice if fitting yourself. None of the screw holes come pre-drilled, as expected. I would invest in a good quality oak drill bit to pilot hole before you screw in the fittings. Oak is notorious to chew through drill bits and you will how all smoke but no hole wink

So today is all about scraping ceilings and copious use of pva and artex sealer so that the plasterers can start tomorrow.

Looking forward to flooring etc my eye has been drawn to the "impressive" range by quickstep. Key thing is that it seems to have the laminate run into the joins opposed to the base material being exposed. Had engineered before and despite looking after it it sun bleached quite noticeably and marked quite often.
Best price I can find online is £19.99 m2. Anyone got any contacts? I need 17 packs

... And we're ready for tomorrow.

It currently appears we are living in a squat (trust me we're not those kind of people!)

Apologies for the poor quality photos it would seem my iPhone doesn't like the dim lighting

And part of the reason I bought this place - a big double height stairwell

... Can't wait to get the plasterers in - out - and the place decorated!

I like plasterers... They turn something akin to a favela shack into something decidedly more homely quite quickly...

For one guy on his own I'm impressed how much he's managed - the second one was delayed coming home from holiday so will make an appearance.maybe.

Landing...

This is where the old airing cupboard door one was remember?!

The odd dwarf door - now less dwarf like albeit still small

And they've started bonding out the rough bits downstairs prior to finish coat..

It's beginning to look more like I had planned!

Coming along nicely!

You're brave leaving those chrome sockets and switches on whilst the plasterers are around.

Fortunately they're brushed steel and seem to wipe down easily!

I did worry though!

Wrap them in cling film! It is much quicker than wiping the sockets down after plastering, I learned that the hard way.
