I'm in the market for some nice windows too and am looking at these which are supposed to be a cheaper but worthy alternative to R9 http://www.deceuninck.com/uk/heritage-collection.a...

We had them installed about 12 months ago and we still get compliments from passers by. Still very pleased with them.

Quoted picture for benefit of others so as to provide context..

Did you replace front door as well?

We have just exchanged and hope to overhaul in two years. Our front windows are sound but R9 looks good and so might just be worth the money if I can get the trade prices quoted in this thread

Interested to know about front door though. Ours is original with a bit of stained glass. But might be persuaded to go R9 if doors look as good as windows

Front or side doors are Solidor with an R9 frame. There are plenty of options to chose from as well as designs and colours

French or patio doors are R9 only and are now open out

We bought a reclaimed wooden front door and painted it the same rail colour as the windows.

Interesting point. I had quotes for both for our new build for 40+ windows and deceuninck came in around 50% extra. I believe this mainly to be down to the supplier as I too thought deceuninck would be cheaper.

Shows it pays to do your homework and just fire off emails to whoever supplies the windows you want to compare prices.

On that note, Worsy, would you mind providing me the details of the factory as well? You should indeed be on commission. We are up in Scotland but I am hoping with 40+ windows, 5 sets of French doors and 3 entry doors we might be able to offset shipping cost by a saving on the products.

Many thanks.

Contact me as your profile won't accept emails.

on a side note, all the people I have provided details, would be good to hear back as to whether it's a good contact.

Worsy, thanks ever so much.

I can confirm I spoke to Dekko's Manchester branch and it appears the guy you pm'd is still there. He wasn't the guy I spoke to but was mentioned on the quote as being representative.

Dekko came in a good 3k cheaper compared to my local supplier and that includes a 500 surcharge for delivering to Scotland. Very pleased indeed. Great advice indeed.

Thanks again.

Yes worsy I used the contact you gave me and they were way cheaper than anyone else. Not far off the cost of normal UPVC windows.
