Our French farmhouse build thread.
Discussion
At last an update on the works. Everything is now in place. Nothing more to paint. We have an issue with 1 sink that has a manufacturing fault which means it leaks from underneath the bowl. This thankfully has a 5 year guarantee so we will get a replacement from the UK soon. A picture paints a thousand words so the following will save me a lot of typing.
Shutters all on.
Kitchen
Living and dining
Downstairs toilet
Bedroom 1
Landing
Bedroom 2
Bedroom 3
Bedroom 4
Airing cupboard
All opened up.
After our trip to Australia and me being able to socialise again, we had a big discussion on our future and have decided that we will not be staying in France. We have put it up for sale and are heading back to the UK in a couple of days. Once back in Blighty I am looking for a job to put some money back in the coffers and will work for around 6 months. During this period we also have a house to do up that we have been renting out while over here. Not to let the grass grow under our feet, we have also agreed to buy another one. Once planning has gone through, which will hopefully coincide with my 6 month stint in gainful employment, I shall be back on the tools full time.
It has been 1 hell of an adventure here and we have both learnt a lot. The 2 major things are that we can spend 24/7 together without killing each other and that we both enjoy working on properties. So we have the 2 lined up to keep us occupied while we wait for the place here to sell. That could take a few years so we will see where life takes us. I have been very grateful of all the support we have received from you all and will post up a new thread when we start the next house.

Thanks for the well wishes. We are selling the whole lot Joe. Luckily we have friends that are renting our pretty much untouched house so will be holding keys for the estate agents. Depending on how long it takes to sell we will have a very nice holiday home to come and stay in! Plans are at the moment to visit over new year and bring a replacement sink back! We have had to resort to staying in it tonight and tomorrow night as our beds are packed up now.
Just not getting on with the language. Could hack that if we could make money just doing up properties but it would have come to a head at some point I feel. Now we are heading back to do at least 2 properties and once this place sells the big argument of where to next will rage. I am voting for Australia and Pippa is voting for the US. If we can get a green-card then the decision becomes a little less one sided as visa for Oz is pretty much a given.
