I've got this massive fob to open a private car park, it's annoying, and I'd like spares, so I can give to other people to use my space when I'm not.

I've seen other people use more compact remotes, asked them, and they were just given them, so no idea about them. I even search to try and find a matching image/item, but got nothing.

Can anyone recommend a replacement for this? It seems simple, a 8 dip switch remote, but I can't find one. I once purchased a 'learning remote', but it didn't work, it was an ebay special though...

looks ancient - tried a museum?

Seriously - you need to know what frequency it uses - it may be 315MHz or 433MHz if you're lucky. You can then buy a cloning remote of the same frequency.
Is there any writing / certificate on the case with a frequency?

How do I find out the frequency?

None on that link. I'll take a photo of the external when I get home.

Here is the datasheet for the chip thats on the PCB: http://pdf.datasheetcatalog.com/datasheets/150/367...

ETA: the ebay one I purchased was a 433Mhz, so maybe I just try the other one for £8 or so.

I did email a company who sold new remotes etc, he said it was discontinued 10+ years ago, that a new receiver would need to be fitted for modern remotes. If I've see people with modern remotes, surely the receiver is there? Suppose I need a remote to clone though, there is never anyone in the car park!

The chip only does the code generation, doesn't tell you anything about the freq used.
Does it say MPTxxx on it anywhere?

It's listed as a compatible replacement for your Garg unit.

You remote has a fixed code set by the pins on the dip switch.

The replacement shown is a cloning unit with a variable Rx/Tx frequency set by the replaceable quartz oscillator crystal.

Almost sounds like I know what I'm talking about!

Anyway - email them to check.

Virtual beers accepted.

No reply from them. I also took remote apart and can't see any other codes/part numbers/etc.
