So:-

You are moving into your new house, but because of lack of space you can only have either a top of the range bath or shower, but not both, which would you go for?

A choice between a powerful invigorating shower, or a nice long soak in a piping hot bubble bath.....

Shower. As above, who would have the time for a bath every day?

Is there really no room for a bath plus a shower fitment on the wall? And stand in the bath to take a shower?

Not all of us have room for a bath smile the house I'm moving into in London has three rooms - a kitchen/diner, a bedroom, and a bathroom. The bathroom is a "wet room" so as a result has a loo, a sink, and a shower.

Quite common - but I think the point is if you have room for a bath you have room for an over bath shower.

Shower. Every. Single. Time.

Shower but moved to a house with no bath and thought to myself I wouldn't mind a bath right now. I did have around 2-4 baths a year and I miss it now itas gone.

Electric shower in the the bath if you have room though.

Its not clear what the options are. With a top of the range bath can you have a shower over it or is there some issue with headroom?

My advice would generally be that if its a flat then fit a shower and job done. If its a house that a family may want to buy in the future fit a bath and shower over to maximise your sale potential. Shower cubicles are not much use with young babies and children.

Other way of looking at it.... how long are you planning to be there? if its a fair while fit what you like because the difference over such a length of time wont matter so you can discount if a buyer says they really want a bath.

We canned the shower over bath idea as I'm 6 ft tall and they're bloody awkward, smaller, and more dangerous in terms of falling out of it!

We never have baths, but we do both shower every day, so it made lots of sense for us. Slightly concerned about the resale value... until I saw this thread!!

Went to view a flat for investment recently and noticed the bath had no shower above it, "a-ha fear not", she said, opening the door of a cupboard in the bedroom to reveal a large walk in shower.

But if i had to choose, shower i think but i do love a red hot bath from time to time

Bath with shower over every time for me.

It's what we have and I have no issue with showering on it, and I'm 6'2".

When I did the bathroom I bought a really nice metal enamelled Bette bath, square one end (shower end so you can stand properly) and sloped the other end for when you're laying in the bath.

I love a bath and have one or two a week, but need showers in the morning.

Also, if you have kids you're going to want a bath.

We've had this arrangement for 4 years and not one of us has managed to fall over or out!

If you can get a bath in, fit a shower over it.

But if it is either or, a shower.

But a bath is basically a big bucket with a hole in it, what do you get for "top of the range"? More space available?

Mind you, I did stay in a granny grimm B+B once that had a fold away shower.

Last house I installed a multi jet whirlpool bath, never used it. New house another whirlpool bath again never used. Waste of over £2000 but they looked nicefrown wife's choice.

Just to be clear, (for the purposes of this thread) having a bath, combined with some form of shower would be "cheating"...you still have the use of a shower, I meant bath only, if you wish to rinse your hair you can use a Perspex jug like the good old days..smile

Of course any PH'er under the age of fifty would not know what the good old days were.....

Kitchen sink or tin bath on the grate? It was where it was warm in the house.

Of course, you could install a faux fireplace and tin bath and claim it is retro.

In that case then there is no contest, shower hands down.
