National Park, Grade 2 listed - what restrictions?

We are off to view a house tomorrow which happens to be Grade 2 listed and in the Peak National Park. What are the restrictions with it? Obviously no plastic windows but anything we should be concerned/ worried about? Can we change any of the interior?

We bought a Grade 2 listed property in June, and have just done a lot of work to it, new kitchen, took down a couple of walls and made a new drive entrance.

Yes it's harder to do things to it than a normal property, but it just depends on what you want to do.

If you plan to radically change the external character of the building, or major features inside then forget it.
If you want an extension because you don't think it's big enough, whilst it is possible, it's quite unlikely.

People say no plastic windows, but sometimes it can happen where if the house has rubbish plastic windows and you want to go to a hardwood flush casement they won't let you!!

It can be a scary world, but you need to have a sensible head on and speak to the local conservation officer about anything you think you might want to do.

Once we had our offer accepted I actually met the conservation officer at the property and walked her through everything we wanted to do, and they had no problems with any of it.
You do have to apply for listed building consent for almost everything, apart from internal decorating, however it's a free process so not too bad, just make sure you do it in plenty of time as it's a slow process.
