I took the plunge on the Flymo EasiLife 200 for £496 and was hoping for some set up advice. I'm ridiculously excited about this!

I have an odd horse shoe shaped garden. I was wondering if you can set two guidewires so I can set up the base at the top and have a wire down each and tell it to start at one side one day and the other side the next day (Plan B).

Or am I better putting the base at one end and asking it to trudge the whole length (Plan A).

I would rather have him in the middle, so I can see him from the window and check up on him. But the plugsocket is actually more convenient for Plan A, so that works also.
Not sure if this would work but what about the below. It would make a slightly convulated way of returning to the base but would achieve what you wanted.

ETA: I assume on yours you can say how far to go along the guide wire before mowing and at what percentage of the time? That way you could program several different start points.

Thanks for your suggestion. I ended up going with Plan A. After a long day setting up all the wires, Colin is doing his first shift currently.

rofl

From my experiences with the Flymo...

1) Read the instructions
2) Plan your cable route
3) Use an edging knife or spade to create a trench to put the cable into
4) Use the odd peg to keep the wire in the trench
5) Leave some extra wire at the end so you have some slack for step 6...
6) Do a few test runs - move the cable if you need to. Retest. Tidy up wire
7) At every opportunity tell someone you are cutting the grass, whilst you're doing something else.

Mowby Dick is due for arrival here tomorrow. I might setup it up for a little test then put it away again as the lawn is being re-configured in July

Another PHer about ready to take the plunge and get a robot mower

According to https://www.calcmaps.com/map-area/ the gross area is about 1350m2 and I'd say about 60m2 of that is flower beds, trees and other bits that don't need to be included in the mowing area, so I'm going with about 1300m2

It isn't, by any means, prisitine lawn and I don't particularly want it to be. It is quite bumpy and there are a few sloping bits. Surrounded by trees, so plenty of leaves, twigs (and bigger at times) to contend with.

My initial research gives these options

Robomow RS615 or EC312 (I like the idea of the RS as a bigger unit)

Ambrogio L30 elite

Landriod WR153E

Husqvarna automower 315

Stihl imow 422

Honda miimo 310

Are any of these non starters for the conditions (leaves etc)? Is one THE one to get? Have I missed any?

Mowbama is due here today, it’s for our daughters lawn which is fairly square, looking forward to seeing how it performs, I removed all the dandelions and daisies yesterday so fingers crossed.

Please note that all the flymos are the exact same hardware, so you can make the 200 work in a 500 garden.

What's different is the length of boundary wire supplied (can always buy more) and the software (restrictions on the number of hours it will run each day). The 200 is restricted to 4.5 hrs a day. The 500 12hrs or so. Which means the 500 would be continuously running or charging 24/7. So I bought the 200 for my 300 garden and it's working fine.

The multizone feature is great. I have three zones set up and he's doing an excellent job, even finding the section through a narrow passage (<1m). Very happy.

£450 is a heck of a lot for a mower that only does 200sqm; but I guess it's ok if that's your lawn size.

These things must cost buttons to make.

OK, all set up and working but what I'm not sure on his how to limit/control how often he goes out.

It seems to be as soon as the battery is recharged it goes out for another run.

I want to put the sprinkler on but don't want to risk getting cables cut.

Think I know the answer to this, and not sure I would want to do it for fear of running it over, but.......
Are there any mowers able to cross a driveway between 2 lawns? Probably about a 7 metre distance.
