I have over a foot of compacted snow outside so will not be waking Geoff from hibernation for a few months yet.

Temperatures look to be consistently in double figures so it’s looking promising, but it depends on how wet the end of the garden is. They don’t do well on soggy ground.

Sent mine out for it's first run of the year last week, after 4 days of running and the wet weather it's pretty muddy out there so paused it again till next week.

I'll keep an eye out on the weather but will probably be bringing it out of hibernation towards the middle to end of March. I did a cursory check on the wire and it's been dug up in a few locations. Seems that foxes enjoy digging the wire up!

I have two parts to my garden. A lawn and a ‘paddock’. I don’t want them both mowed to the same height so yesterday I created two zones using an outdoor 3-way switch. By operating the switch I can control which zone the mower does.

Anyone use a mower in a hilly /moundy garden? We have 0.5 acres of lawn but it is full of mounds! Nothing obscenely steep but some are enough for the sit on to spin wheels on a wet day!

I have a Landroid robot mower that would cope with mounds, because its rain sensor wouldn't let it try and mow on a wet day.

Is a robot mower light enough that you could continue to run it whilst the lawn has been over seeded?

Flymo Easilife 350 currently £366 on Amazon , don’t think it’ll stick around for long at that price.

Question for the avid watchers of this thread... do Amazon do this often? I'm thinking of getting one of these and £200 saving would be amazing.

You'll be needing something like a Husqvarna. The AWD models can handle pretty extreme slopes and bumps although they're not cheap.

Occasionally. Not been quite that cheap again. You can see historic prices via the 3 Camels site, and setup alerts. I’d suggest creating alerts for all the Easilife models as I believe they are all fundamentally the same

Put my Willy (named after Groundskeeper) put in the garden today. I haven’t bothered with the initial cut, will see how he fares.

Quite surprised it’s still got 98% battery having been sat in the garage for 3 or 4 months.

I put Roberta (Flymo 1200r) back out today. No messing about with the wires needed at all which was a nice surprise. Looks like we may have a couple of 0-1 degree nights in the coming week so i'll bring it in on those nights but should be good for the year now.

So....earlier today, we dug up a small pear tree we had Rob O'Mow Jr. going round, to be relocated.....bit of levelling off, re-directing the wire, & back out to work he went.
He's only had about 6 weeks off this winter. Never grumbles, mind!

Plan to get our Flymo, "Roger Mower", back out of hibernation shortly. We bought it mid-summer but didn't use it a great deal as we were in the process of redesigning the garden (lockdown project).

Is there any specific (re-)charging needed before putting back into use? I was planning to pop him back into the charger for a day or so and then let him loose on the lawn.

Cheers! Into the charger he goes next weekend then - weather permitting.
