It’s been 2 weeks since the garbage men threw Geoff away and I’m still working with them to get a replacement. One minor issue is that I have been informed the owners are “family”. This should come as no surprise as I live in NJ. It does mean I am not pushing too hard, because I want to remain attached to all fingers, but they keep telling me they are buying a replacement. At this point I’d be OK if they just told me to do one because I’d call the insurance company.

Today I broke my cherry. My garden was very over grown so I borrowed a lawn mower my friend had spare. I have never cut grass before. And, fk me, never again. This is a petrol mower with no drive. I never realized how hilly my yard was until I had to push a bloody mower up it. 2 hours it took me. It does not help that it’s 84F and humid today.

I need to get Geoff2.0 in and quick.

Well, the latest recruit to this particular army, Gizmow, reported for duty over the weekend.

I've been looking at these off and on for a couple of years (and thanks for all the comments on this thread), finally biting the bullet on Prime Day with an Easylife Go 500. All set up easily, apart from the ubiquitous human meets technology error in turning it on, and seems to be working OK so far bumbling around and finding its home at the end of a shift.

I have it scheduled to work overnight - so the plan is to never see it, just have a magically mown lawn.

Lol, did the same with mine. It didn't come on until my SiL said 'Is that an ON switch? banghead

Loving mine, we have a big garden that grows like Jurrasic Park and not having to mow the lawn any more is a godsend. That's potentially 20 hours of my life back every year!

And they are also very therapeutic to watch hehe

I bought one of these bargain price on ebay from flymo direct, got extra cable and set it off on about 900m2. Doing a great job.

It’s the same as more expensive husqvarna mowers,

Has anyone got or heard of a Lawnmaster L10?
They get good reviews on Amazon. Seems pretty basic but for £350 after a discount it’s almost disposable!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lawnmaster-Lawnmower-Char...

I have two areas of lawn that aren’t connected so I’ve been mulling how I could get a robo mower to do it. Thought about buying another base station for a Worx Landroid but that’s £200.
Then I saw the Lawnmaster and I could get 2 for the price of one Landroid.
But if it’s pants then obviously I won’t!

I am new to robot mowers and have just had a good read of this thread.

The flymo 1200R seems to come up as a decent machine.

Best I can find is about £419 on eBay ( the hot deal offer above has ended )

Is that a good choice or should I be considering anything else ?

I have a small lawn - 10x10m at present but am moving to a 20x20 when the house is built. However I don’t want to spend a fortune on an experiment !

I am away for 7 week in 10 days Time and this is sprouting me on !

I'm trying to guage
1) suitability for a robot mower
2) which one

The blue dotted line is 165m and the green dotted line is 75. The bottom left hand corner is water, and inside the red line, that border is a hedge. You can see drive, car turning place and garage. Obviously various other sheds, trampolines etc.

Any thoughts? My first thoughts are that setting the guide wires would take an age, and that the area is quite large at about 12000m^2

First thoughts are you're expecting a bit much from the technology. You need ground staff & a ride-on mower.

You'll need something like a Belrobotics ParcMow, not cheap though around £11-12k

Meet the latest addition to our garden, Steve! Managed to snag a 1200R in the eBay deal above and pretty impressed with it.

It would be nice to have control via an App and the rain sensor on the EasiLife models but probably not worth the extra cash.

The eyes are 30mm ones from Amazon and our two-year-old daughter is most intrigued. She's got the hang of opening the hatch which is a tad annoying!

It's waterproof so rain isn't a problem at all and once it is set you really don't need an App. I have felt a bit sorry for mine in the pouring rain a few times but it's absolutely fine. Might get some eyes though hehe

Much cheaper to split the garden into 3 or 4 areas and get a flymo robot for each one.

Had a look at this as but has some really bad reviews. This one is similar price but seems better spec - anyone got one? To save time clicking, its the lawnmaster L10 suits 400m gardens.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lawnmaster-Lawnmower-Char...

The 1200 people shout about is out of stock.

I've done about 10 mins of solid research so will possibly buy the L10 today unless someone says it's cr@p biggrin

Looks ok given the increase in coverage. Mostly positive reviews.

So I've got a Worx SE105SI. Been working fine for two seasons.
Last summer I did a few garden renovations. Adding a tree bench etc so had to redo some of the boundary wire.
Worked fine till end of season.

I took it out of hibernation late spring and I'm getting wire missing error. Light on base station is not flashing.
Checked perimeter wire for any breaks etc with AM radio and a special wire detector. Found a break and repaired it. Mower still not mowing. I'm getting the red flashing triangle which according to support is still wire missing. I've tried a 10m loop and mower works. So must be a break somewhere but just can't find it.

I'm thinking of just buying 200m wire and redoing boundary.
What's people's thoughts?

Would a multimeter set on continuity work? Remove the two ends from the base station and connect each end to the multimeter.

It only confirms there is a break. I bought a detector for a few dollars from amazon. You can also use an AM radio but I di not have one around. With the detector my 7 year old kid can find the break in minutes.
