When do people tend to pack their RM's away for the year?
(I guess I'm asking when does the grass stop growing, as its hard to know when its kept constantly short with a RM)
Keep an eye on the edges, that'll tell you.(I guess I'm asking when does the grass stop growing, as its hard to know when its kept constantly short with a RM)
I usually bring it in when the grass stops growing and the temps at night drop to low single figures (to protect the battery).
So....just as i was thinking how well things are going, our Landroid S300 has suddenly decided something is wrong.....the blue light is flashing FOUR times....
Not entirely sure from the manual what the issue is....two & three flashes suggest it is lifted up or upside down....
Anyone got any ideas? Shouldn't be any reason for the wire to have been clipped anywhere.....
(update - now the blue light looks like it is flashing 3 times....which also isn't mentioned, but sounds maybe like it thinks it is outside area...)

Another plea for help.
Imow 422. Keeps getting "hood blocked" fault. Except its not.
Been "fixed" by the dealer. "Driver" replaced. Some electronic thing no doubt.
Still does it. Totally random. Can sometimes go a whole day without issue. Sometimes it will fail multiple times.
Any ideas? Clearly the dealer doesnt. Plus it took them weeks to get the parts at a time when the grass is growing well.

Your perimeter wire is intac if you have a solid green light on the BASE. Might rule out one issue.
My green Led has failed, but the perimeter wire still works (Flymo). It took me ages to diagnose, replacing cable connectors etc, until I eventually just put the mower down and it was fine.I guess it's soon time to bring him in for the winter having done an excellent job in his first season.
Do I need to also bring the dock/base indoors over winter in case of frost damage (I'm aware I could probably just find and read the manual but something or other)? Do people generally take up the base station and put it in a shed or whatever?

I've been thinking about a robot mower for a while, but having a dog I can see it hitting a few landmines on its way and encasing its inner working in muck plus the kids (and dog) leaving their toys strewn across the lawn means I'd have to be out before the robot to clear up! Kind of dilutes a alot of the benefits of automation.
Any experienced views out there?

There's no way around it - a clear up is recommended. A dog turd that has been squeezed out or dragged around by the robomower is more challenging to clean up than one which has not. Toys / hoses / garden tools can be damaged or cause the mower to be 'raised'. They're by no means a perfect solution. Any experienced views out there?

Thanks Chris. As suspected I'll be driving a push along for some time to come.gregch said:

I dont bring my docking station in over winter, turn off the power and then wrap a plastic shopping bag around the gubbins bit so it is protected from the worst of the weather.Do I need to also bring the dock/base indoors over winter in case of frost damage (I'm aware I could probably just find and read the manual but something or other)? I sent my mower off for service and winter hiberantion at the beginning of the month. Shot my load too early (heard that a couple of times before), the grass is now a good 6 inches deep.
Been a die hard fan of robot mowers for number of years but I'm getting fed up with constant perimeter wire issues.
Does anybody have experience of the wireless ones; particularly I have been looking at this:

Just a heads up, for anyone that's been pondering a robot mower, that the flymo easilife 350 (& maybe other models?) is heavily discounted again on amazon right now... £450 I think?
I've been really pleased with mine - and the identical one I put in for my Dad - over the past year, and that price is about as low as it gets.

Got the flymo out to start the season and blue flashing light of doom! Spent a while searching the wire. No actual break, just high resistance so poor voltage. Decided time to replace the whole darned thing. But only did half the loop this time. The old half had 11(!) 3M connectors and one soldered splice on it! so definitely due a change. Nice to see the green light after hooking it up.
Next problem was that the screws holding the blades in place were welded firm. Managed to remove one, but another was immovable and the third twisted but just snapped the screw head off. So £20 for a whole new replacement disc

I have the older flymo that just does what you tell it.
I need another one for a new house.
The easy life 150 /500 etc are the same product per one review other than the length of wire provided.
There is also on the spec a max running time. It this enforced so the cheaper ones can only cut a smaller area ?
If so can it be hacked ?!
Alternatively any other reasonably prices suggestions ?
