I had a Worx Vision last year, used it for about 3 months then sent it back. Absolutely useless. Before that I had a normal wired Worx (M800 I think) and it was ok, but the Vision was far too dumb, and just had no way to teach it anything. It refused to go places, there was no way to guide it with edge wire, and there was no override or "no, it's ok, you can go there" facility. Even on a plain, rectangular area of lawn, it would go round anything that wasn't grass. Clover, daisies, dandelions, leaves...

It was nowhere near a production-ready product last summer. I think even assuming the "intelligence" improves, I wouldn't be trying it this summer, or next. Long way to go.
What a shame, but fair enough. What did Worx say about that?
To be very fair to Worx, they have excellent customer support, and they fully refunded me with very little hassle. I was well outside any reasonable return period, but I sent them my concerns in writing and asked for a refund and they didn't object. By the time I returned it, it was was in used condition, I hadn't kept the original box, and some accessories were missing. I warned them of this, but they didn't object to a refund anyway.

The cynical amongst us might say they know the product is a load of crap, or if we're being generous we might say they care about their customers and deserve praise for good support. I think it's probably a bit of both; I had a fair complaint and I voiced it politely and made a fair case for it being unfit for purpose. I also think I needed to give it a fair trial for a few months and not just give up as I ordered it very early in the product's life, so I accepted it was a bit "beta". But after a few months and a few software updates etc I had to give up.

I'm happy to endorse Worx customer support, it's really excellent. I'd happily go back to the M800 too, that was good. Just not the Vision.
Fair enough, I know the wired based models get very good press and very nearly bought a M500+ (WR165E) myself before the 'nearly new' Easilife 500 that I do have came up locally for a reasonable price.

Flymo EasiLife 350 with free wall hanger - £319 until 25th March. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186043800779

Is this a good price?

Personally I can't be doing with a guide wire.
Great price for that model and back in stock with 20percent discount, almost half the price of amazon

As the RTK station needs to be stored indoors for the winter, I don't really want to install it on the roof anyway.
Where did you get this info from? I can't find it on the LUBA 2 manual...

Hi. I’ve got a Flymo easilife 350 and I’m wondering if there’s a software update for it. Has anyone updated their easilife software and knows what version it is at now. Mine says version 20.25.

Thanks

Hi all,

I’m after a mower to do around 600sqm. The lawn is flat, with the only complications being two large trees with flower beds in the middle.

- I have small dog who will likely run around/near it when it’s in motion.
- I have 2 young kids who are likely to do the same.
- Small dog might leave hidden presents in the lawn- how much of a problem is this?
- The big tree seems to drop lots of branches, would these be a problem?

Are there any mowers with additional safety features (e.g. cameras or radar) that would stop it from mowing my family? I quite like the look of the Husqvarna models and don’t need GPS. My budget is around £1,000.

Are there any with features that would be worth looking out for?

Thanks,
Nick

Yeah I suppose they could. I’ll have to find a printer cable and run the software to check. Trouble is I’m at work and by the time I get home I’ll of forgotten 😂

I've got one of these,

https://uk.worx.com/robot-mower-landroid-m700-plus...

but you may get away with an m500 plus

and I've fitted the anti-collision system to it, so it will divert round trees, the washing line pole, etc. It's not good enough to dodge daffodils, so you'd need to run the boundary wire round the flower beds.

We have 500sqm, lots of trees, two dogs, and a toddler, no issues with the Easilife 500 which would likely do fine on a 600sqm lawn especially if you didnt want it mega short. Ours runs most of most days in summer, but you only have 20% more grass. Or pay an bit more and get the 800.

We dont have any 'islands' but you just run the wire around it as per the instructions. Or garden is L shape with a narrow bit and one end and it makes its way around fine.

Dog poo isnt a huge issue.
Dogs tend to give it a wide berth.
Toddle waves at a distance.

If its sunny our older greyhound will lie on the grass, but that's only if we are out in the garden, and I just tell it to go home for an hour to save it bashing into him and disturbing his nap.

Just ordered the M500+. Will report back after I've got it up and running!

I updated the software on my easilife 350 and it went from 20.25 to 41.13. I don’t know what’s changed if anything. I bought it new from Flymo a few weeks ago so thought it would be up to date but I guess it might have been built a while ago.

Take June with a pinch of salt, i'm waiting on a luba 2 that was 2nd week of March delivery, thats now "Maybe end of April" i was counting on it to not have to go buy a manual mower to tide me over until it arrives but the grass is already out of control frown
Just went to look at getting a wired Honda or Husqvarna and ended up being talked into a Luba 2, they had just got a delivery and had them in stock

So; first thoughts are mixed.

My main concern, the RTK satellite signal, seems to be fine. Some of the surrounding trees don’t have leaves yet, but so far everything works.

On the other hand, it was frustrating to set up and the way it turns on the spot is chewing up my lawn!

I think maybe it’s still too early in the year for this, need to wait for things to dry out a bit and try again.

Seems to be a common theme, on the Facebook groups. Lots of people are putting the base station on patios etc to prevent this.

Thanks, interesting. I'm getting the Yuka which has 3 wheels so hopefully it will turn a bit less aggressively on the lawn. I assume the Luba will wear the lawn anywhere it needs to regularly turn though?

Maybe one of the small mats that embeds into the ground might help here?

I just got my Luba 2 also, its pretty good but likes to get dangerously close to the flower beds which are about 3 inches lower than the lawn, its not fallen in yet but I watch it going round and it really pushes its luck, quite like watching it go about its business on its own though, will see how it progresses
