OK robot mower veterans. When the local Husqvarna rep came round to diagnose a problem earlier in the year (turned out ants had eaten the electronics underneath my base station) he also did a sweep of the boundary wire with a breakage detection tool. I'm on the hunt for one of those items now following a recent flashing blue light on my base station (indicating a new incomplete circuit).

I have a similar problem where I need to detect a break. Looking around people use an AM radio, several YouTube videos showing how. I already have one of these which should work quite well when our foxes find my recently laid cables.

Anyone think these robomowers could be useful for a holiday cottage, to help out the gardener (who may be finding the mowing a bit of a chore!)
Guests may be entertained....or they could just run at night (if quiet enough?!). Maybe keep moles away?!
Considering one as I see Costco now offer the Mcculloch RM600 at a bargain £600 (with Costco usual 5 year guarantee). I need to re-read this thread, but wonder if anyone has experience of that specific model with a reasonably large lawn.

After turning it off and on again on the base it seems to be working but is now saying the guide line has a fault, I had this last year and turned it off and on again to cure which hasnt worked. I dont think the guide line is broken unless ive accidentally gone through it. I think I may end up relaying it again and seeing the condition of the wire.Switch on the mower at the toggle switch on the rear left.

We're just about to buy a robot mower for around 3600m2 (effectively 90m x 40m) 1/3 laid to lawn 2/3 paddock grass.
I think I've narrowed it down to the Husky 450x and Robomow RS635 Pro X (the latter being ~£300 cheaper).
Firstly, which is the best mower out of the two?
Obviously I've got quite a bit of cable laying to do. Is it best to bury the cable or can I surface peg it?

It does a 40 hour week which seems to be more than enough to keep on top of things, I had the wire buried which did add quite a bit to the cost but worth it for my situation I think, deer sometimes roaming about the place etc.
It also comes with a 5 year warranty which I'm not sure the others do, I've also just bought a 2nd smaller one the 422 for the front lawn.
Husqvarna & Robomow I'm sure are very good as well, but I'd certainly recommend the Viking from my experience so far, this was the one my dealer recommended and he does sell the Husqvarna as well.
