Yes it's certainly quiet enough for nighttime running and that's how I've set it up, but still. 20 hours is 20 hours... Anyway I'll see how it pans out.
Mo Update: It's panning out rather well! I've got a few tweaks to make with location of the boundary wire but that's about it. Grass is looking well and there's nowhere in our relatively challenging-ly shaped garden that's been missed. I'm gradually clicking down the height too each week and that seems to be working well.

Winner!

They're great, aren't they?

Have you stuck a pair of googly eyes on it yet?

Finally set my Flymo 1200R up over the last few days. Needed a few adjustments to the boundary wire and guide wire. ‘Philip’ chomped the cable in a couple of places but luckily I bought an extra pack of joiners to repair the cable.

So far very pleased.

I was a little concerned that he would not cope with a couple of 1 metre wide pinch points but he seems to just take it in his stride.

I may get bored with watching but I do keep saying to my wife ‘where’s Philip?’!

Definitely going to get some hehe

We don't have any on Sonny (our Neato) but I think the shape of Mo is more suited!

Google eyes defo help!

Anyone tried extending the area with their boundary?

We left off the “rougher” ground at the end of our garden, but I am confident Rob O’Mow would manage it now we’ve run him a season.....but I am a bit nervous about cutting in and waterproof joining the cable. Might have to dig the manual out later!

Mind you, fallen apples could cause him problems......anyone found that an issue?

Ours is the Worx WG790E.1
Cheers

I got a box of the same type of connectors that came with ours from Amazon, they're made by 3M and look like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Connectors-Lawnmowers-M%C... .
Alternatively, there are also some 'repair kits' which consist of a couple of these connectors, some pegs and a bit of the green cable.

I used the connectors from Amazon....seem identical to the Flymo ones

So have just "upgraded" from my Bosch Indego 400 Connect to the Gardena Sileno. First time with a random mower as opposed to the Bosch that moves in stripes and having a bit of a complicated garden was concerned bits would get missed.

But a week in working really well. Where the Bosch couldn't cope with a bigger garden due to the perimeter wire length (1000 square metres but not an easy square) Gardena using the same cable takes it in it stride.

Got the moisture sensor and sprinkler control as well but haven't set that up yet. App appears to be working well and had the first week set as at 17 hours a day running but going to reduce that now as it covered it all quite quickly. Concerns about the random motion have gone away.

Anyone tried using the McCulloch 1000 with a bigger garden? Obviously, the clue is in the name, but I wondered if anyone has tried it with a garden of 1 acre or more?

Finally had some help installing my Worx all seemed great but then it chopped through the perimeter cable. I’ve used one of the Scotchlok connectors to join the break but the charger base lamp is flashing green indicating no circuit and the mower’s red triangle is flashing indicating the mower is outside the perimeter wire (it’s not it just can’t see the wire).

I’m as certain that I can be that I’ve joined wire correctly so is there a way of detecting where the break in the circuit lies? Or if I have continuity over the new joint.

I think in the Flymo 1200R manual or CD it described how to find breaks in the perimeter wire.... basically you keep halving the area to help narrow down the break (from memory)

I bought a little garage to protect the docking station and power transformer from the weather, quite chuffed with it considering it was only £55. The roof section lifts off if you need access to the mower.
Was this from somewhere online ?

It's this one, made in Germany. Comes in 7 or 8 flat-pack pieces, easy to assemble:

If you have a battery powered AM radio (preferably LW) you can pick the signal up from the boundary wire.
Disconnect one end of your boundary and follow the connected end around until it stops buuzzing through the radio.

This will be the point where the wire is broken.

If that works then that’s brilliant! Just need to find an old LW radio. Any idea whether the frequency it’s set to makes any difference. Great tip thank you.

Wonder if anyone with a working wire and has a LW radio can try this out and report back please?

It doesn't really matter, if you hold the aerial near to where you think the wire is the interference is picked up by the radio.
It makes quite a distinctive noise.

Finally got around to configuring mine (Flymo). The wire took a fair amount of effort to install as I cut them in.

Early days, but it seems to work and it's quite soothing to watch from my desk. I still need to work out if I should try and create another zone for our back garden or simply buy another one.

(and it's small fry compared to the summer holiday I booked today)
You know it’s bright fking orange...?
It went unnoticed for a good few weeks - until we had a get together with friends and someone commented about it... admittedly this when unboxed and prior to installation.

We basically spent a day burying the wire. Since then I've periodically given it a clean and changed the blades, but it's paid for itself in terms of time.
