Bah! Tried to wire up the rear garden today and found myself about 5m short of wire (and pegs).
Adding extra wire is simple with the silicone connectors. Pegs are only really temporary, as the grass's pulls it down after a while so don't need pegs after that. So could just use them more sparingly, or use any old tent pegs.

Or use a spade to bury it

I have the silicon connectors already - just ran out of wire. Used pegs in the back as I couldn't be arsed to dig it in - but probably will end up doing it anyway.

Have ordered another spool of wire so it's no biggie - just a frustration. I'll probably change the layout at some point anyway, so will probably have some use for it.... if I can remember where I store the reel.

Everyone's mowers still going about their business? I'm going to follow Mo around today and listen to how much cutting he's doing, not sure if the grass has stopped growing yet.

I reduced the hours on mine, grass isn't growing much now. Do you bring the base station in over winter?
I bring the mower in, the base station gets covered by a large bucket to protect it from the elements

I think I'll bring in the base and bag up the loose wires.

Noticed poor old Mo had a coating of frost this morning, bless.

I've strimmed the edges where he doesn't reach over the weekend and will use those as an indicator of whether the grass continues to grow.

Most say bring them in when it gets to 4C.

I've been bringing Mowbi in overnight of late and reducing cutting... although he does seem to enjoy playing in the leaves hehe

I’ve had the Flymo 1200R for about 4 weeks now. My garden is 220m2 and the Flymo is terrific. I had no issue setting up the boundary wire and guide wire. I buried both. The mower is incredibly silent and efficient. My only issue appears to be that the connectors at the back of the base for the Boundary wire (Left and Right) and the Guide wire appear to slip from time to time as a result of the mower either bumping into it or through docking. Wondering if there is a trick to securing these, as they generally have no grip?? Thanks!

You need to be quite firm with the connectors - carefully pinch them with pliers so they seat securely.

Ours bumps into the base station and we don't have that issue.

Getting close to time to bring them in anyway - manual advises not letting them drop below 4C IIRC

Thanks. I like your idea of gently pinching the connectors with pliers once connected to the base. Will give that a go.

Yip - will take the mower into the shed shortly, but still need to solve the problem for next season!

Thanks again.

I brought ours in this last weekend.

I've certainly had no issues with the connectors coming loose.

That's so cheap it's tempting me to replace my Flymo robot mower.

The edge cutting and the charging base that lets the grass grow through looks like a big step forward from the Flymo.

Perhaps they sold - I can't see any in the warehouse ones, & the link you sent is £420, which could make it £340 if it drops 20%?
Still not bad!

<edit> Ahh, yes, show up as 'used' on that page (but not in the Amazon Warehouse pages themselves!!).....£325, yes, if they get a 20% off, great deal smile

Looks like it's a Black Friday deal now as well - £420 (was more expensive earlier > 500 iirc).
