Our garden generally suffers from moles....but since Rob O’Mow set to work last summer, they seem to have moved out smile

I’m considering extending his remit to include the “generally rougher” end area (which also has fruit trees) - I feel confident he would be fine down there, the area would remain well within his capabilities.
Means extending the cable: any recommendations on wire to use and which connectors to use to make solid join? Our cables are buried a little too, so another day of work to fit that in.
I've used these

Thanks, I thought they looked okay: bit odd they don’t go in both ends to make for a “straight line”, I assume they don’t cause mowers any issue to track where they join?!

No issues at all.

I wish my moles had moved out... They've multiplied if anything.

Mo is back out as of this week doing his thing. Had an underground cable break which I found with an AM radio and repaired, but other than that all good.

Noticed this earlier. Half price Worx landroid brand new? What's the catch?

It is the basic model but it is being sold by the manufacturers so no catch. I was speaking to their technical manager last week they’ve got a raft of new technology coming out - batteries that are interchangeable with their power tools, anti drift which keeps them in straight lines on slopes, more grass management tools (will even tell you when your grass needs watering apparently, more logical LEDs Red for a problem etc. Sounds like they’ve really thrown some money at their product.

I’d guess they’re selling off the older models before the new ones become available. Sound like a bargain!

I picked up a Worx WR105SI last
November simlar price and it's been sitting in the garage waiting for spring time.
Can't wait to get it up and running soon.
What's the recommendation regarding boundary wires. Do a small area first to test?

My bosch seems to get stuck easily, i have a pretty flat lawn with only a very mild slope on the one side. I might add some spikes to the wheels.

Anyone got this one?

How close to the edge will it really cut?
Seems a good price - any concerns?

Hello,

I'm shortly moving to a new house with a ~400m2 rear garden, roughly divided into 2/3 and 1/3 by a central hedge and two wooden archways either side of it. Each archway is about 1.5m wide.
It's a very established garden and I won't be allowed(!) to change the layout.

I'm thinking of getting the McCULLOCH Rob1000 - there are some decent prices at the moment (~£550), I guess in anticipation of their new S models.

I wanted to ask those of you who have already taken the plunge:

How I would best deal with the archways and central hedge - I've attached a couple of badly drawn options. Edit - I only seem able to upload one. The other option is to loop off around the central bush as I come past it with the boundary wire through one of the arches?

Also, where would I run the guide wire to? Straight through one of the arches to the back edge of the boundary?

Lastly, will the Rob1000 cope with mowing between the archways?

Yes you have it right. If you want you can set up the middle 'island' by coming directly under an archway to save yourself some cable. And yes you run the guidewire into the secondary zone, there is a setting as to how often you send it to start in there.

I have a ~3ft gap between my lawn and side garden - the side garden is about 40m x 20m and the rear lawn is 12m x 12m or thereabouts. I have Mo set up in the side garden as the primary area and he happily trundles into the lawn area every 5 starts. Occasionally he'll go in by accident but it has to be a spot on 'shot' to hit the gap.

Where do people get their replacement 1200R blades from? Was tempted to get some of these but the 5 star review is fake as hell.
"It is very convenient to replace the replacement blade, and the price is very affordable, it can be said that it is inexpensive."

I've got a very similar layout, but one of my gaps is only 4' and the garden area is bigger. I have a Rob 600 and it copes perfectly, so the 1000 is well able to manage it.

In answer to the question re blades, I just clean and sharpen them up on a whetstone once a month. Still on the original blades 2 years later, although I might invest in some new ones this year!

That one does look a proper bargain! We have the larger unit at a place with a big garden, but our smaller lawn has flat areas around it (oak and firm gravel), so no reason the wheels cannot over lap a bit if needed - temping to get one for this just to save me the hassle, having seen how well they do.

Anyone know how far it mows to the right of the wire?

Also: I cannot see how this one gets scheduled. I’m reading the manual at https://www.worx.com/media/wysiwyg/EN-Landroid_S30... - it says
“Mowing times are different for every lawn depending on the factors mentioned below. Gradually adjust the time you allow Landroid® to mow each day until you find the most suitable setting.”

....but I cannot find where it tells you how to “adjust the time” !

Anyone got a clue? I suspect with our patch, an hour a day would be more than enough!

The eBay listing description says it mows for 2 hours a day, 5 days a week - starting at whatever time you first turn it on...
