I picked up a 1200R Flymo on Prime Day (£399).

Move in to the new house next month, and figured as I had to buy a mower anyway, it was worth the upgrade.

Hope it works out well!

I keep coming back to this thread in the vane hopes of getting one, however the idiots who did the path down the centre of my lawn dig it too deep so now it’s almost 2” lower than the grass either side. I’m guessing unless these are now super 4x4 like, there is no hope of it getting across between sections ?

I seem to be getting a plague of clover all over the lawn since I started using a robot mower. Can anyone suggest a good weed killer to get rid of it?
Clover is an easy weed to kill, any spray on LAWN weedkill should kill it off easy enough, avoid combined weed and feeds, and don't go too heavy on it or you can still kill the grass off if your not careful

So I've set up Mow Farah over the last few days and absolutely delighted so far although I opted not to bury the cable to start with just to make sure the boundary was ok. I don't think the kit came with enough pegs for the amount of cable, and ended up slicing the cable a couple of times so I've ordered another 100 pegs and will bury most of it.

We are thinking about getting a Robomower for what is really quite a small lawn, we just know we won’t look after it as well as a robot will!

The thing we are struggling with is docking station location. The instructions for a few models suggest you need 1.5m either side of the back of the docking station but online quite a few videos show the robots docking into little garages etc down quite narrow passages or with the station in a flower bed and the lawn level with the front of the station. Is this possible? It would work best in our garden if we could do this.

Does anyone have experience of putting docking stations in a confined location and it working or not?

We don’t want to spend 500-1000 pounds for it not to work with our specific lawn!

Depends on robomow, I suspect.

We have used a medium sized Landroid Worx WG754e on a large garden for over a year: that one drives into the 'garage' and backs out (& yes, I built a sort of garage!). Works brilliantly, & has had the side benefit of keeping moles out of the area!

Then we got a Landroid S300 for a smaller lawn (1/2 price bargain at £250!): it 'mows to the edge', BUT needs (I would say) a 1m run into the docking plate & a 1/2 to 1m run straight out. & has cause me way more grief than the other one - this one has (had!) a metal guard (because of mowing to the edge), but the guard kept jamming on any slight gradient or edge. Getting there now: I have removed it & overseeded a couple of areas it got stuck...

Get a flymo it can work with a very narrow docking channel and will be perfect for a small lawn.

I agree - for the Flymo, my experience is the mower will locate and dock precisely, but the guide wire must be in the correct position under the docking station (wire must be in the wire guides and run straight out at 90 degrees for a couple of metres) or else if it comes in at a slightly wonky angle it will have problems.

I hope someone can help or advise...

My Flymo 1200R has given me 2 years of awesome service and daily mows. I love it to bits. But after 2 years of flawless performance, my mower has started to act up. He seems to struggle with bumps he used to previously sail over, gets clogged easily, throws up a bunch of “trapped” errors, spends whole days sitting in one spot with no visible issue in

Cleaned him loads over the last three days (more than ever before) but I can’t say it helped. I even gave the grass a mow using the big mower (which we haven’t used for two years) in an attempt to help robomower along, but I don’t think it’s made any difference.

...has anyone encountered erratic behaviour? What ended up helping? I’m at a loss.

Still thinking about one and found this on eBay at £399... certainly in an attractive price range, still uncertain if the 2” high drop between grass and paving slabs will be an issue.

If I buy one and it’s a no go, what’s the second hand market for these like with minimal use ?

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2...

I see the Flymo 1200R is also only £399 now

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2...

Which is the better ?

Don't know the Flymo, so sorry, can't comment no that.

We picked up that very Worx one for home use on an Amazon special earlier this year at £250, so clearly discounts to be had. It is okay, but (I mentioned before), the blade guard can snag up a bit (the older one we had - which looked more like the Flymo one - was MUCH less temperamental in that regard...but almost twice the price!).

That sounds like battery worn out. Mowing every day is stretching it a bit.

Thanks both. I change the blades regularly, but never the battery (over 2600 cutting hours). Charging time is still normal, so never thought about replacing it. Would the battery affect things this much?

The original one from the Flymo shop is £109, but I can buy a “compatible” brand from Amazon for £49. Am I ok with the off-brand, or would you recommend genuine?

You'll take a bath on it if you sell second hand. I had a new Honda Izy which was £439 and second hand it was barely worth half that.

Thanks for the spot on the Flymo one. I'll get that!

Did the lawn look like bits had remained uncut as well?

It'll be the battery - I had similar issues recently. Replaced it and Mowbi is back to rude health.

I got an Intensilo 2500mAH for Flymo 1200R / Husqvana Automower 305, 308 for £43 from eBay

It's 4 screws to remove the cover.
