My next door neighbour has a chain of domestic appliance stores and he recommended LG. We got it and it's been great so far. Still a long way to go to reach the age of the old bosch one though.
Thanks. I'll take a look at LG thumbup
Mid to high range LG all day long here thumbup

Miele Classic , the ones with 10 year parts and labour warranty no other make comes close to this , read the small print , spare part not avail be up to 25 years and they supply a new machine FOC , it just feels like a quality product and is heavy enough to require 2 delivery guys and not the normal one apparently according to the place we got it from .which I can't remember who it was .

Our is quiet , efficient and so I am told by one who knows the best wash ever !,,,

Lamona like our old CDM fitted by house builder are cheapo versions of Beko , can they be cheaper , the one that came with the house lasted 6 months and flew to bits on spin literally 2 nd lasted 6 years but only 2 of us and light use
Thing is the cheapest Miele 10 year warranty model is £950, and I’m struggling to justify that insane price when the Samsung is under half the price and has a 5 year warranty. If it if failed after 5 years and 1 day, I could buy another one and be covered for another 5 years for less money. I guess the longevity of both is an unknown, although it is impressive Miele feel they can offer that substantial warranty, just seems a crazy price for something that washes clothes and has no emotional appeal.

The trick is with Miele is that they sell you the 'warranty' without actually asking if you want it!!

Looking for one, and realising this is much less fun than TV shopping...

Aside from the unhappy Samsung owner above, does anyone else have one?

This one seems a decent price at £379, 5 year warranty and its a Which? best buy. Failing to see any reason not to go for it other than it's not the default Bosch!

That looks like a really good deal - they are replacing it so it's a run-out model, but it gets 80% from Which and great consumer reviews - so I am buying it!

Samsung do super-expensive high end ones, but frankly all I care about is wash quality, energy efficiency and reliability, and this fits the bill. The pricey ones with internet capability and auto-dosing etc are nice, but not at 4 times the price of this offer...and I tend to worry that ever fancier electronics on a daily use appliance will be unreliable and hard to fix. On washers and dryers, I tend to prefer simple.

Excellent, more money left for the 75inch Sony 4k TV in the home cinema. Priorities, chaps.

We bought this one (I think, it is definitely a 9kg eco bubble) about 6 months ago.

Although we didn't buy from John Lewis.

It gets used a lot due to OH work stuff and we think it is excellent. The 9kg is incredible and there are 14 different programs. We actually use about 9 or 10 of them as well! Very happy with it so far. It replaced a Bosch and is much better but technology has moved on 10 years and the Bosch was a combined tumble dryer due to space constraints in previous house.

So after doing all the comparisons ended up going for another Bosch....Bigger and faster than the one it's replacing but costs less. Fingers crossed it lasts the same time!
I know this is a comment from a few months ago but I had to source a washing machine for my daughters new house and defaulted to Bosch.

The thing I found a pain is they do a whole bunch of models with similar basic spec (capacity, spin speed etc). Everywhere you look, even in their brochure and on their website, never mind retailers having their own custom model numbers, you see a load of machines at about the same price point.

So you've no idea if you're buying an old model or a new one, or what the differences are between half-a-dozen apparently similar machines.

In the end chose one from John Lewis that had £100 off for the simple reason that if you can get a £500 machine for £400 then that's got to be good, right?

Buy a 'Graded' Miele (brand new with a dent in the side) for about £600. Would still have the warranty. Nothing comes close to these things!

I've seen quite a few "they don't make 'em like they used to" comments on recent Miele machines.

Also LG and Samsung models - it seems they either work fine or are a complete nightmare with fault after fault.

After 12 years or so our HotPoint gave up the ghost few weeks ago so we replaced it with a nice Hoover Dynamic One Touch thing which works very well indeed.

I'm a Miele convert. It's not just that they last and have a good warranty, they are better.

Mine weighs 105kg (I looked it up after I couldn't believe how much it weighed when we moved house) so it's rock solid, vibration free and very quiet.

I went for a mid range AEG as my parents have one that's still going strong after around 15 years. It's incredibly quiet and we're very happy with it - you can be standing next to it during a spin cycle and not notice it's on.

If money were no object I'd have gone for a Miele, no question, but it was bought to go in our new house and, well, there'd been a couple of other outgoings associated with moving house...

LG here. 10 year warranty and have the direct drive thing. Or is that driers? Anyway, both LG, great looking things too.

We bought an ecobubble from JL a few months ago when our old Bosch gave up - similar story to yours. I think it's the same model as in the link posted earlier, although ours apparently had 'scratches' so was a chunk cheaper. (I couldn't see the scratches, but the saving was nice!) Thus far it seems fine - it certainly seems to get things cleaner than the old machine, but wash cycles are much longer.

Miele would have been good but ££££.

Bosch most definitely aren't what they used to be. I buy a lot of appliances for rented accommodation and struggle to recommend Bosch to anyone.

Cheapest LG washers have a shorter warranty than the more expensive ones - we got the cheapest that had a 5 yr warranty and 10 yrs on the inverter. Seems ok so far...

Right I've bought the Samsung ecobubble, annoyingly the John Lewis price had gone up £20 to £399, but Currys have £50 off and half price installation.

£360 total for Which? best buy, delivered and installed with 5 year warranty. It's going in a utility so don't care if it's slightly noisier than a £1,000 Miele.

My mum has had her Miele for either 19 or 20 years, 2/3rds of my life. Never had anything go wrong with it.

I've currently got an ancient Philco that came with the house, but plan to get a Miele when it gives up. Think Mieles actually wash better as well.

I know it's a bit late, just thought I'd chip in.

Esseesse, there are collectors over on the "Automatic Washer" forum who'll gladly have your Philco off you if/when it expires.

The solution if you can't afford/justify a new Miele? Buy a secondhand Miele. I did so back in the autumn when my Bosch expired - bought a 12-year-old Miele for £100 on Gumtree. It doesn't have to last 20 years to justify that, but it looks and sounds asnearasdammit brand new anyway... no motor noise at all except when spinning, no rocking or vibration, not a whisper from the bearing...
