Tropical plants

Any ideas at what tropical\tropical looking plants are worth looking at for the garden here in the UK. A few palms I know of but past that I'm lost.

Fatsia japonica - evergreen, huge leaves, very hardy, white flower heads in spring. Will need pruning once establish as they are vigorous. Don't mind a bit of shade either.

Read www.cooltropicalplants.com, it's a great website and the authors writing style is nice to read.

Palm trees - Trachycarpus varieties are the typical ones.

Cordyline, Canna, Bananas (Musa Basjoo, Sikkimensis), Ensete Ventricosum (various varieties), Dahlia, Tetrapanax, Hedychium (Ginger Lily).

I have some Arundo Donax growing behind some bananas, second year and they are starting to get thicker, although I have only a few stems.
