I think either way, this has the making of a very expensive garage given the site and slope.

I like the idea of the four post lift in the garage, but the main use of the garage will be for motorbike storage and a workshop, I can't afford the kind of car that needs to live in a garage!

I've just found out from the estate agent that the tenants who are currently living in the property, have a contract until the end of October, which is quite a lot longer than what they told us before.
I'm not sure at which part of the buying process the property needs to be vacant, in order for the bank to approve the mortgage, but I suspect the timescales are going to be longer than what we're hoping for.

It also makes me nervous about committing much to it in terms of fees and surveys, so combined with the garage complications, I think we're going to give this one a miss.

Are you sure about this one? My understanding was that the height to the roof could be measured from the level of the highest ground around the structure, which in this case would be the front, where it would be 2.5 m from the drive level to the roof. I thought that the rest of the structure being higher compared to the ground below it didn't matter.
You're correct. Height when on a slope is measured from the highest level adjacent to the structure.
