Is there a surefire way of determining if a bit of furniture will fit up the stairs before you actually have it in your possession?
Reason I ask is that were about to purchase a new bed for our loft conversion. We tried to get our king sized divan up there after the work was completed but it wouldn't fit and we knew we ultimately wanted a bed frame anyway.
So the one we've got our eye on is a superking, the largest bit of it would be the headboard end which is 201x98x14cm. The troublesome staircase has a couple of steps into a 90 degree turn, a straight section, then another 90 degree turn at the top before going through the doorway into the room. The lowest height is 206cm at the bottom and the narrowest section on the staircase is 68cm. I suspect we can get it into the staircase and angle it round the first corner. The second is tighter and it's the depth of items that have made it tricky in the past. Short of building a model is there an easier way to work it out?
Mattress will be fine as we'll get a zip and link.
Thanks!

Not elegant but when I had to work this out for a relative we just mocked the headboard up out of cardboard and tested it. Worth a thought!
I have done this previously (see thread about shower panels ) but because of the size and thickness of this item the cardboard mock up would be a little more challenging. I'll see what I've got laying around at home that I can use.C0ffin D0dger said:
