Neff or Siemens?
Discussion
Hi all,
In the home straight (almost) of a full renovation/extension project. Just doing a bit of appliance shopping ready for kitchen fitting which is week after next. It is a big kitchen/living/dining in the extension, and we are aiming for as high end a feel as possible, within the constraints of a budget. Effectively that means Miele is out, so down to Neff vs Siemens. Any tips on durability, reliability, etc between the 2?
Thanks in advance!

Neff and Siemens appliances are made in the same factory by the same company so underneath you'll find very little difference between the two.
We went for Siemens as I prefered the aesthetics of them and I think at the time the Siemens compact combi oven had pyrolytic cleaning whereas the Neff equivalent didn't for some strange reason. Been pleased with ours to date (5 years+), only minor issue we've had was an internal fuse blowing on the combi which stopped the microwave part from working. All sorted under warranty.

Neff, Siemens, Bosch - all the same stuff underneath - all our kitchen is Bosch and a lot of the spares are listed for all three. I've just replaced the brew unit in our built in coffee machine - same thing.
The only appliance we have that isn't Bosch labelled is the dishwasher as it's built in and you cannot see it - it's a "Gorenge". It actually is a Bosch and is identical (apart from the badge) down to the last screw, cable fixing, moulding etc etc to the Bosch. Ten years old now and has worked flawlessly (apart from a piece of chicken bone getting stuck in the impeller once).

As has been said they are all the same with aesthetic tweaks. You do find some differences in what models are offered by each brand so one catalogue might have an extended range for something compared to another.
I did a mix and match between them depending on which had the model I wanted and which version I preferred the look of e.g. I liked the Siemens fridge better than the Bosch as it had slightly different plastics inside while the Bosch hob had more subtle markings than the others.
If you get the chance look at the German catalogues as they have a much bigger range in them. Everything still has English manuals etc. etc. but just isn't marketed in the UK.

As said before, Neff, Siemens & Bosch, all the same underneath
Also good if you've limited space or an island nearby, as we have, and it reduces touching your arms on the hot door. Donwside is, since they don't seal so well, they're nto completely self-cleaning as our prior oven was, when it locked shut and heated to something like 500C!

We went Neff for simple reason wife wanted those ovens where the door retracts like on bake off
^^^ this was the choice for us too. Also good if you've limited space or an island nearby, as we have, and it reduces touching your arms on the hot door. I heard that somewhere - retractable door = no pyrolytic cleaning. I'd take the pyrolytic cleaning over the door any day unless it really needed to retract for the space it is in.Also good if you've limited space or an island nearby, as we have, and it reduces touching your arms on the hot door. Neff looks great, but the touchscreen-ish controls can be very fiddly. Happy with ours though
