I bought a second hand 'perfect condition' Bosch washing machine. When it was delivered it was wrapped up in cling film and the guy scribbled a 3 month guarantee on an ordinary notepad and cleared off sharpish.
When unwrapped I saw the plug had been cut off and left 1" of wire sticking out. Endless calls to this guy's telephone followed but no answer.
So I now I have a W/M stuck in the middle of my small kitchen, no plug and I don't even know if it works.
Should I spend more money on getting it wired (any idea how much?) or spend more money getting it taken away??
Advice please & any plumbers in the Hampton/Twickenham area please quote me a price.

Thank you

Can you post a picture of what the remaining wiring looks like?

There's only 1" of wire sticking out, or there are coloured wires sticking 1" out of the end of the cable? Just fit a plug. Get one from Toolstation or any hardware shop, google how to fit it. Piece of cake.

Simplest solution will be to whip the back off and replace the cable.

and

(you'll get the cable cheaper from B&Q for just a couple of meters)

Is this a serious post? Please tell me it isn't!

Do you mean there is 1" of mains cable in total, or that an inch of the inner cable is protruding from the outer sheath?

Go easy, it might be hard to do in the dark after the light bulb blew.

Just stand in a bucket of water and poke the wires into a socket OP..

Where did you purchase from and how did you pay? You can stick a new lead/plug on it but this stinks of scam to me

To answer your question - having little money I bought from a dealer on Gumtree with many sales to his credit.
I reported him to Gumtree and to the Police as a fraudster and the National Fraud office.
Gumtree was not even willing to reveal his name or contact details although they did have them.
So don't buy from Gumtree.
I believe he's still advertising on Gumtree as there are adverts with identical wording to the one I fell for, just a different phone.

Hope that makes you happy.

Ok, I'll eat a bit of humble pie! That's pretty shoddy but should be fairly easy to fix up (assuming it actually works). Best of luck.

The plug may have been cut off because the machine is unsafe - electricity and water don't generally play well together. If you're not sure of what you're doing it may be worth asking help from a friend with more knowledge.

PINCHER and Iva Barchetta

I was replying to a rather sarcastic comment by a member called Lordhavemurci.
Apologies if you took it personally.

My mistake I thought it was pretty general.
I will now unsubscribe and leave you all to it.
