Don’t you people have thermostats?

I don’t think the heating has ever been turned off since I moved in in 2001!
Still turn it off just to stop it coming on overnight as you go into / come out of the winter months. Have multiple thermostats around the house and it's easier than going round adjusting each one.

I turned my thermostat up from 20 to 24 today because, frankly, it's a liar. I think it is better to test the heating now anyway.

Thermostat, yes. Mine is turned off if I am not it. Timer so it goes on the morning for an hour or so and in the eventing, no point heating an empty house.

Went on this morning, the wife was up early, she complained it was cold in the house (4C outside).

For the people asking about the thermostat, in the summer I turn it down to zero, the heating itself is still on.

Why zero? if its warm enough it won't come on anyway.

I'm not there most of the day in the week and since I no longer have my crested geckos there's no reason to keep the place at a reasonable, steady temp in the day.

I have this problem as well. Replaced the Thermostat from an old skool on the wall dial to a Hive Hub and still no different. To get our house up to temp the stat needs to be set to 23 or above. Conversely we are in alternative accommodation at the moment while we await our insurance company to sort out our house following a flood back in May and if you so much as think about setting the Thermostat above 21 you'll be walking around in your pants sweating!

The only thing I can really think of as the cause if that the thermal value of our home is so ste that as quickly as you get it to 21 or whatever it immediately cools off to below that and thus you need a couple of extra degrees to keep things warm!

When we move back in a new boiler will be going in and I will look into it in more detail!

Was tempted last night as it was pretty cold indoors. Must resist until at least October!

Watching telly, I put on a fleece last night.
It was nippy this morning but once I'm out of bed I'm out of the house in 45 minutes. Not worth having the heating on for that.

No heating on yet and won't be until it gets really, really cold. Been out the last two days cutting, splitting and stacking wood as we will use the log burner to heat the downstairs until it gets too cold, never, ever have the heating on upstairs anyway.

Log burner lit and used for a good few hours yesterday, south east. It'll still be a month at least before the thermostat kicks in, as this time of year its still mild enough for the burner to provide enough warmth for the whole house if the internal doors are all left open.

It was a good idea. I've found my office rad is completely cold. Have tried balancing and bleeding (get black water, no air). Not sure what to do now. :/

I've just come back from nipping to buy lunch to find the office a/c set to TWENTY-SEVEN degrees. Absolutely ridiculous, it's 15degC outside according to the phone! I've had to open the window behind me and put a fan on to get some fresh air in...

If you have a thermostatic radiator valve it's probably stuck/broken, might need replacing.

Put mine on for 30 mins yesterday to make sure it still works as it’s not been on since March.

Fortunately it does. smile

Yeah, has numbers on it. Is it possible to fix it without taking anything apart?
