Slightly off topic, but I can't post in the NP&E threads..

E.on are offering 24m fixed rates at 22p/kWh,50p daily standing charge. Somewhat below the latest cap announcement.
I'm with E.on currently on a next flex plan, just checked this out but looks like they're insisting on smart meters fitted which I'm not really interested in. It takes next to no time putting a monthly reading in for me, my electric consumer unit and meter and quite neatly hidden away in a small box in the kitchen.

Yeah that is their stipulation. I already had one when I moved in. It's an old smets1 unit, but seems to work ok. No issues in 7 years touch wood

Somewhat back on topic, I've switched my electric rads off as the house seems to be holding at 16 degrees. Log burner takes the chill off when needed

I’m on the tariff that requires a smart meter. Don’t have one fitted tho. Just said I have a neurodiverse condition and it would negatively impact my mental health (genuinely) but could I please have the tariff and they agreed to it.

Just dropping in here to note, for future reference, that the heating is still on and is likely to be on until the end of April - in London. 4 degrees overnight and then getting down to three degrees overnight later on in the week. I don't remember it being this cold at the same time last year!

Well, it's set to 10C so if it comes on, it comes on.

Heating is still on the thermostat in the morning for 2 hours and 6 in the evening.
But we have recently renovated the bathroom and now have electric underfloor heating in the bathroom and the shower has changed from electric to a thermostatic shower powered from the gas combi boiler.
Shall need to wait and see how those affect the energy useage but we are hoping what we spend on the undrrfloor heating we save from the shower being gas powered.

Need to account for the extra water the new shower ‘uses’. smile

Mine has been off for a month now. Yes, it’s cold overnight outside, but the house holds heat well enough and warms up during the day.

Seconded. April is the usually the month the heating can go off but it's been genuinely cold at times. We've a nest thermostat and it's either on or off as it seems to have a mind of it's own and comes randomly (AKA I've not took the time to read up/instructions).

Tomorrow's high for me is 6C, FFS. I will slide the heating to On before I go to bed tonight so it can come on in the morning.

To be fair this weather is more typical for April, it's just that the last few years have spoiled us - Lockdown April was utterly majestic.

Still on here - was off for two nice days but rest of the month it's 90 min morning and 5 hrs evening.

It rare for us to get away without CH in April - Normally May has more days without than with CH

House takes a fair bit of energy to heat up but once it's there it's better to maintain it with a regular use of CH.

Waiting on the quote for new boiler biggrin

The new layout of our house is helping a lot - the south facing kitchen / diner stays just about warm enough - it's 19C now and it's not been heated this morning, and even at this time of the year it's bordering on too warm if it's sunny.

I am heating our notth facing bedroom for an hour before we get up, and once the heating is on the rads in the bathrooms heat up too.

Was bloody cold today and put the heating. Then couldn't work out why I was so hot. Had forgot to turn it off and the thermostat was set really high. I don't usually use the thermostat just click it on and off for a bit to get a bit of warmth in.

8c at midday and foggy over the moors, utterly dreadful, Came out of the gym at 3pm to the same plus mizzle, it's just awful I feel like we've been in this cycle for 7 months, I cannot remember the last spell of good weather.

The weather is really reflecting the state of the nation, heating on everyday.

April is always variable. I remember one year swimming in Tarn Hows at the end of April; the next year we had driving snow! Heating still on here in North Yorkshire, but then we’re up high and usually “a coat colder” than, say, even Skipton smile
