evening.
as per the title, we live on a fairly busy road, and want to obscure our bay window. we currently have frosted effect window film in the lower half of the windows. its great for privacy, but alters the colour of the light horribly, and is too solid looking.
i have seen houses with a semi mirror finish in the windows, and want to try something like this instead.
there are so many types, and % attached to them. is that the transparency or uv rating or something else?
i dont want the house to look like an office block, just like a clean window on a sunny day if that makes sense?

anyone got similar?

Mirrored, semi or otherwise, will make your house look like a porn shop from the outside IMO.

I just put some semi-frosted film on our flat's bathroom window and it looks good - there's a massive array of patterns and styles. One of the ones available (I bought ours from B&Q) was very frosted and very white...it might be worth trying a few other frosted samples.

+1 on trying other frosted.

You can spray patterns or have hit and miss strips etc

Venetian blinds, you can tilt for privacy whilst maintaining light. You can even get them fitted in a cartridge system to attach to upvc double glazed units so they never need dusting or cleaning.

thanks for that. we will get some better blinds in time. when we moved in we had some horrid venetian blinds and the place was so dark. currently up is is some frosted effect we bought online. maybe we need the same but less dense?

I have some on a backroom in the basement - the room is now always gloomy. As it's a laundry it doesn't matter, but remember that light reflected won't be in the room.

B and Q do a decent range and you can see samples etc.

It's not the done thing to walk back and forth behind the samples starkers apparently, but you'll be able to see what each one looks like more or less.
