I'd argue it's a tad late for weedkiller, but not massively.
Not because of the calendar, I meant because it was only freshly seeded 10 weeks ago. The grasses are still effectively seedlings and I'd be slightly worried that weed'n'feed might kill it off.

Yes that was my worry - going ahead with spot weeding only.

Nice house. A bit open to the elements for my liking though.
I can't see a house wobble
The front door is on the right, the rest of the house is underground

Thanks to the rediculously good spell of weather, I've gone from having a patio to seeding to 3 inches of lawn in less than 2 weeks.

^Looks really good. Seems that the Toro striping system works. Would you recommend it?
I've just thrown mine out. Really disappointed.

That's good growth! Slight side tracking, but what is that red spikey plant in a pot called that's similar to a yucca? I've been trying to find the name of those for ages as I'd like one, and my google searches haven't been very productive.

Feed my grass some Evergreen 4 in 1 about a month ago and after a week or so I gave it a good rake/scarify which removed quite a bit of thatch. I still have some dark patches in the grass which I presume will grow out over the next few weeks but I'm not sure if I should be overseeding the grass or putting a fertiliser down. Or both?

Regarding overseeding, should this simply be scattered over the lawn or put in a soil/sand mix and then spread over the lawn?

Is there anything I can do to make the grass more resilient, as it is having a lot of extra traffic with all the work. I have done the last few cuts longer than usual.
A longer height of cut does help a great deal. Avoid traffic on it whilst the ground is wet if possible. Some boards down whilst work is happening will help to spread the load, but make sure that they're lifted whenever possible.
It is safe to say that the lawn took a battering this last week.

I've gone from a decent lawn and crap patio/path, to a nice patio/path and a crap lawn. Fortunately I know I can improve the lawn fairly cheaply. I have already given it a light cut and it has had a good watering. I will put some fertiliser on over the weekend. Is it worth seeding the bald bits now, or am I best waiting until the autumn, when I will scarify and overseed. The only blessing to the messy lawn is that I am not going to feel at all guilty about putting weedkiller on all of the weed grasses. There was a large patch of weed grasses where the new patio was, so I am glad to see them go.

I probably would put some weed and feed on it, although I've found grass recovers pretty well naturally. Water, warmth and regular light cutting.

I would get some seed down now. Those bald bits will be a magnet for weed seeds and weed grasses otherwise (realistically there'll be a bank of weed grass seeds in the soil already waiting to germinate), and then in the autumn there'll be some protection for the new seeds as they germinate.

The lawn is really struggling this year, I scarrified and overseeded just before the dry spell last month, and the only things which have grown in the gaps are weeds or wide leaf grass. Just thrown a load of veredone around which will help with the weeds but not sure whether to overseed again and apply some fertiliser. Last year it looked great, but the weather hasnt been very helpful this year.

Pain in the arssssssseeeeeeeeeee.

EDIT - now its fecking raining.... i bet that Veredone isnt rainfast in under an hour.

Absolute pain in the arsssseeeeeeeeeeeee.

@Hobo... trampolines, the gardener's nightmare! Do you move it every time you mow, or end up mowing around it?!

I must admit I sometimes mow around, and leave long grass underneath boxedin

I've got serious lawn envy.

Can someone recommend a petrol lawnmower with roller, in case I ever get my grass to recover?

I move it each time I mow the lawn, and keep moving it so the grass underneath doesn't die off.

Re the other posters mower recommendation I would thoroughly recommend Allett mowers. I have the Kensington which has interchangeable cassettes which means scarification, aeration, etc, can be done when you like (assuming you have the relevant cartridge).

Just this evening realised that what I thought was browning from drying (although I was surprised at where it was occurring) is actually red thread. Sad times frown

Think I will bring forward my next fertilising as I under did it last time. No more clippings left on the lawn either.

I bought a Qualcast 35S from ebay, like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/qualcast-classic-35s-law...

Very very pleased. Ok, it needed a new belt (£12) the blades needed sharpening (£29) and then i treated her to a new lower blade (£16)

Mine recovered ok in the end but I did scarify early and I did a massive amount of top dressing so much effort, might pave it lol
