I moved into my new house a few months ago, one of the jobs was to tidy up the garden, as a bit of background, the house had been empty for nearly a year so the garden was a little over grown, i didn't take any pictures to start with, which i now regret.

Once i started to clean the garden up i started to take some pictures, this is how the garden has evolved over a few months:

The above was after using a trimmer to cut the grass down to a level that i could then use a lawnmower with.

After cleaning it all up i put some seed down and kept it watered

This is what i currently have

I am pretty happy with it as a gardening beginner. I sold one of the green house on eBay, only got £24 for it, was hardly worth the effort of dismantling it. I also laid my first ever patio, which the wife now wants me to extend the width of the garden up to the garage, a job for later in the year.
With regards to the rest of the garden, I now need to figure out what to do next, how do i get it all the same colour and of course figure out what to do with the rest of the garden, shed, decking area, plants etc etc .......

You shouldn't be getting any damage from the mower though
Maybe if it is too wet?

I'd be putting down a liquid moss Control down and maybe rake out any patches of moss but that's about it really
I didn't realise you could use moss killer in this weather but if you can that's useful to know because it's something that can be done before growth starts again in the spring.

Your joints on your patio are making my teeth itch. But credit due for at least making an effort and doing your own garden work when many would simply pay someone else.

If you get some fertiliser down and keep over seeding you'll have a nice lawn in no time.

I gave mine away on freecycle, on the condition that they dismantle it. Much much easier. And had loads of people after it. Was gone the next day. Easy.

Usually just highlights poor blades, I'll try and upload some lawns I have treat this week which were cut beforehand when wet, they are perfect examples of how to look after a lawn and the kind of customers I love to have!

Perfect time to use it, abit of moisture I find helps it work better. Only thing I'd avoid is using in heavy frosts, will still work but can leave a black stain on the grass, not really harmful but obviously not pretty!

Generally comes in a white powder to mix up into a liquid treatment. high iron sulphate levels and you will probably find advertised as a turf hardener, if it's advertised as a moss killer then it is classed as a pesticide so needs more control over it

Looks about right. It will stain everything it touches orange though so keep well away from wood, patios etc.

If you have a spare bottle you can premix it in first it helps, put the powder in some some water and add some washing up liquid and shake really well to mix it then dilute into a watering can or knapsack. Warm water can help it mix better aswell but I never bother.

Otherwise if your using a watering can just agitate it with a stick as you pour it in and again add some washing up liquid.
